using an ipod on a mac then pc help.

When you initially set it up on the mac it'll have been formatted to HFS+ (mac filing system). Windows won't be able to read it. If you'd set it up on the PC first, then it'll have been formatted to FAT32, both windows and the mac will then be able to read it. There maybe (this was the case...

    anyone used mambo cms?

I used it briefly before deciding it was crap. It's missing a basic feature like being able to take the site down but be able to view it from an admin ip address so that you can make changes.

New iMac's and other apple stuff

overpriced fashion statement. There I said it, PC owning "never touched a mac, forming my opinion of what my girlfriends-dads-brothers-uncles-grandad said" fan-boys may now move along, nothing to see here.... Much prefer the wired keyboard over the wireless though, but obviously different...

    internet speed check...

You need to show us: * Your line stats - (Attenuation & Noise Margin, upstream and downstream) * The current sync rate. You'll be (probably) be able to find them on some page on your router. And don't do speed tests in the evening when everybody is surfing the web, do them early in the...

    Landline answerphone software? hardware?

I suddenly thought of this today because I need to add some more physical BT lines to our box (in addition to the voip lines) when we move office upstairs and I remembered this thread. Asterisk is very very cool. You will need something fairly decent to run on depending on how many calls you...

how easy is it to password protect a website ?

Oh god! They can't even sort out their own security!! :p As KDF said you could do it with a bit of php or .htaccess file (providing they support it) depending on how you want the security to work.

    Plusnet ISP

Pipex own(ed) Nildram, so I guess that's not a choice for him! Are tiscali going to amalgamate all they pipex sub brands into a single tiscali brand? "Plusnet, barge pole, with a, wouldn't touch" are some words I'd rearrange to describe dear old PN.....

    SKY + telephone

www.samknows.com You can find your exhange by postcode and then see what options you have, it'll show which (if any) LLU operators have equipment in the exchange.

    SKY + telephone

I thought that fee only applied to a new installation? We just had a BT line re-connected and didn't pay anything for it to be connected.
  23. S

    SKY + telephone

If the house has BT sockets then it shouldn't be £120 to reconnect as there is already an installation there, unless the wiring from the house to the street has gone. Bear in mind that you have to be on an LLU exchange covered by easynet to get the £26 a month offer, otherwise your broadband...

Rain sensing wipers - can i stop them doing it?

..lol.. I mean: Turn On Wipers. (pause) Turn Off Wipers. (pause) Turn On Wipers. (pause) Repeat an-infinitum. Intermittent Wipe! Ok, so you have to do it yourself.... You cannot disable the auto-wipe feature and have intermittant, which is cack. It's either Off, Auto, On, Fast On.

Rain sensing wipers - can i stop them doing it?

I've had this conversation with renault, there is a way of disabling it and getting intermittant wipe.... ...believe it or not, you have to replace the stalk. Then you end up with wipers that work. Or you can do what I do. (Mr Miaga voice...) Switch On. Switch Off. Switch On...

    Megapixel arguement

But you said that 2 different images from 2 cameras with different megapixel sensors produced 2 different quality outputs, it's exactly the case that KDF showed above with his image resizing. Your image contains substantially more pixels which will require less scaling when printing and...
  28. S

    Megapixel arguement

No. It only refers to how many pixels there are on the sensor. Cameras don't deal with real world units, only pixels. This is where the much of the confusion in this thread is occuring!
  29. S

    Megapixel arguement

Ok, so a probably a high resolution printer. Your image will have more detail in it (i.e bigger) than your fathers which is why it appears better when printed. As your fathers image smaller (less pixels) then it'll probably have to scale up which will mean creating detail from existing pixels...
  30. S

    Megapixel arguement

What's the resolution of the printer and the size of the printout. This could be exactly KDF's situation above.
