Yes, £60 excess covers all the windows. Only other frost related problem I had was on mk1 clio, insulation split on wires and my indicators came on when I braked etc!

Don't claim to know anything about engines, but if head gasket had gone wouldn't you be experiencing oil leaking first etc? Head gasket went on my last mk2, after it was fixed and the oil changed at next service it was frothy/coffee like - needed to be flushed through a couple of times.

Do a search, sounds like the common problem mentioned many times before - strut mount catching on bodywork blah blah something like that. I have same issue occasionally, there is a renault fix under warranty if you can be bothered/can persuade them there is a problem....

How many times/over what period can you call them out? I already had AA membership but on the basis of above I'll be expecting to call them out to sort out engine management probs etc etc so will probably use up the free calls first...
