Full speed usb (1.1) is only 12mbit/s datarate without overheads. My headunit has usb to upload to the harddrive and that only manages about 800kb/s.

Sounds normal to me, the 172 goes into an emissions mode from cold start and behaves really crappily for the first minute or so.

Normal, from a cold start it goes into tree hugging mode where it limits emissions. It also lowers the rev limiter, but you shouldnt really be going near that from cold!

Ive only ever filled my car with optimax apart from a week ago when I tried some esso premium. I didnt drive the car any differently (afaik!) but the esso only *just* lasted a week whereas a tank of optimax lasts nearly two weeks, in that respect optimax is saving me a fortune!
