A few more jobs to tick off on the daily starting with the rear beam. It’s a bit crusty like the rest of the car was when I bought it, so definitely one I’ve been looking forward to rectifying.
I managed to pick up a second hand beam minus the stub axles and carriers off EBay.
It didn’t look...
And i ordered 50 bolts off Cromwell same day as Falcon and I got them the next day. Maybe because it was such a small order of two bolts costing £5.99 they couldn't be a***d to send them out. Maybe you have to buy in bulk to get half decent service. Who knows!
They must have furloughed all their good people then.
Two simple bolts ordered on 24th October that never arrived. After a week I got in touch and they apologised like you'd expect and offered to send another two out. They never arrived either. They then offered to send me another set and those...
Ignore that post above. I think you’re referring to something different lol
Go to Partsouq , stick your Chassis number in or model code If you don’t have chassis number to hand - 182 FF with Cup packs are CB22 - then select engine, transmission etc and you’ll find detailed illustrations with...
I know the bolts as I had to replace mine. I had a chew on locating them as they don’t list them on the parts catalog next to the shaft - see screenshot.
I’m sure they were an M8 1.25 x 25 mm flanged bolt - 7703602193, but see what Renault or Tomotek come back with.
Great thread and a massive help to me as I'm about to replace my Clio 182 Rear Beam Axle with a refurbished one. I also found it helped having the OEM part numbers at hand so I could match the QTF part numbers on Cromwells website.
This isn't the full list only the bolts, nuts and washers i...
Someone did a poll on one of the Facebook groups. Around 38% of 1*2 owners were aged 40 - onwards. I think they were the second highest group behind 30 - 39 year olds.
56 years young and having the time of my life.
Amongst my other cars I run a Clio Sport 182 FF as a daily and a tricked out BG 182 for track kicks.
One of the great things I love about Motorsport/trackdays or people who have a real appreciation for cars, is they don't give a stuff how old...
I sold mine at the start of the year for £320 (182 Cat) and replaced it with a PMS 200 cell sports cat which set me back £225. Seemed like a no brainer to me. Sent all the pictures to Tommy who bid me but he never paid up for some odd reason 🤷♂️ Must be a busy bloke. Sold it to a Terry Appleton...
Midweek dramas when the PMS bracket called it a day enroute to work. Luckily it happened just as I was pulling into the car park.
Nick at PMS posted out the upgraded version pretty quickly so was able to trailer it home and get it sorted.
A few shots from last Monday’s Trackday at Croft.
The car took a bit of getting used to after the upgrades but by the afternoon it was flying. Managed to shave a couple of seconds off my previous best to record a time of 1:39:741.
Sadly the release bearing decided to give up the ghost mid...
A few upgrades for the track car ticked off over the weekend by my good friends at CMRacing.
Sach Racing Clutch with Organic plate.
A big shout out to Richard Boynton at Bremsen Technik for sorting me out a great price. The kit came without the release bearing and set me back £450 inc VAT and...
Oh dear, another Keyboard warrior. If you can be bothered to read my build thread I suggest you do. 🙄
When I bought it it was running, original and intact, albeit a bit rusty. After my mate and son finished with it, well use your imagination.
Result! Similar to me. Bought a BG 182 3yrs ago for £1,275, sold it to a mate to go to the ring for what I paid for it provided he sold it back to me when he got sick of it.
Bought it back 6 months later for my son for a grand who In turn got bored after 3 months and sold it to me for £500 😁...
Interesting POV. When I bought my 182 it had an old Scorpion 192 with broken welds and the cat was original but looked tatty and worse for wear.
I replaced it with a brand new PMS racing exhaust and sports cell cat. Threw the old exhaust away and sold the cat for £350.
Total cost to replace...
Finally got around to tidying up the last few crusty bits on the daily. The alternator belt had started to slip so a good enough reason to spend the day removing the alternator, power steering pump, pipes and PMS bracket and give them a good clean up. Most people would just replace the belt...
Crap day at Cadwell as car refused to crank over after a few morning sessions. :(
I'd had some starting issues on the Friday when loading the car on the trailer, only this time I thought it was the battery as i'd left it connected and it went flat. After fitting another battery the car fired...
A few of my favourite pics from Croft last weekend.
Managed a personal best lap time of 1:41:896 which i'm pleased with, although i'm not sure how reliable the data is as I grab the video footage from my Go Pro and load into Race Render after each event.
Footage of that lap is on my Youtube...
Busy weekend getting the track car ready for Croft tomorrow.
First thing to investigate was a rattle near the exhaust which surfaced at Cadwell in March.
Nothing obvious at first until I gave the rear heat shield a tug and it pretty much sprung out away from the bolt.
It had broken in a few...
The daily - 122,000 miles, burns little to no oil between services and hasn’t let me down. It does get pampered though, but goes to show if you look after your engine it’ll look after you.
Nice easy job on the daily replacing the old exhaust hanger mounts.
Picked up some really nice stainless steel custom hangers from PRO-AM Racing which go well with the exhaust mounts.
They’re a really nice bit of kit, really solid and fit perfectly. It’s also managed to cure an annoying...
Sudden brake warning light on the daily last week while travelling to work. Nothing obvious at first but you don’t second guess brake issues.
Off with the wheels and the rear nsr caliper looking very dirty and clogged with dust.
Closer inspection revealed a leaky cylinder but barely...
