Re: My mk1 track car blog
well the ph1 loom and ECU (thats 3 172 ecu's i have now!!) i bought turned up today, so it looks like i will have my head in a maze of wires this weekend :dead:
i'd like to get my seats in this weekend aswell, but undecided whether to have them on runners or not. oh...
good progress ben, nice to see someone has a 'to do' list longer than mine, makes me feel a bit better :D
out of interest what company did the door cards?

all was going great while the nights were light and the weather was ok, now its getting dark at 4 and pi$$ing it down its cheesing me off lol
i thought you might reply to this one dan my saviour lol
right well the other day im sure found the fuel return pipe (it has the same connection as the fuel feed pipe), and it fits the return outlet so maybe mine did have a regulator and for some reason it got taken out? :S
also where the...
can someone in the know just clear this up for me regarding fuel pressure regulators? basically how they work :o
on the clio for instance, they sit at the opposite side of the fuel rail to the feed, fuel pump pushes fuel into rail at whatever pressure, vacuum connected to regulator allows...
Re: My mk1 track car blog
right ive not taken any pics AGAIN!! :o apologies to the peeps who require their daily fix of images lol
got my new gear lever in and connected selector up to gearbox, gave it a quick test....we have gears!!
then bolted on my soft pedal clutch bracket and rigged up...
thats what you would have thought wouldnt you!
but it has 3 connections (4th is blocked and is just for using the guage supplied to set up pressure)
has 'high pressure in' 'vacuum' and 'return' :S
am i being thick here or summat? surely if you've got a 'high pressure in' connection you...
yeh thats what i mean tho, this little 'dummy' regulator will fit where the original regulator was supposed to go and then act as a return if you get me?
sod it i'll just fit it like the destructions say and see what happens lol anyone for a fire damaged 172 engine? lmao
yeh i get how wayne has done it, but thats with a later rail that never had a regulator or a return fitted? if im doing it with the older type rail i will need to fit this 'dummy' regulator and block the return will i not?
basically reading the FSE instructions it looks like i put the main...
but ive got a valver :D
earlier RS engines had a regulator in the rail, whereas newer had it in the tank, i have got an early engine that came without a regulator fitted but obviously having a valver i dont have one in the tank. so it was either get a genuine renault regulator or get an FSE...
yeh ive looked and looked and looked again at waynes, but i remembered that he got a 52 reg engine that originally had fbw throttle im sure, he then changed it to cable throttle. so by my understanding he never had a regulator in the rail, or a return hose? whereas im thinking mine will have...
....to an RS engine (either 172 or 182)
got any pics for me, just so i can see how u rigged it up to the fuel rail and the like :D
my engine is an early cable throttle type, so i ASSUME (key word here) that it would have had the pressure regulator in the rail (rather than in the tank as im...
i would of thought the only thing that could cause the 'strangle' effect would be a very inefficient filter material?
obviously the filter is bigger than the 70mm ID of the pipework, so i cant see there being much of a problem? is the bigger itg/pipercross filter like that to minimise heat...
does this make a blind bit of difference?
im not talking about standard panel filter, i mean aftermarket induction (cone type)
if you have pipework leading to tb of 70mm ID then all you really need is a filter to cover this? its just looking at the itg/pipercross filters they are mahoosive...
Re: My mk1 track car blog
lol no worries
what i mean by in any particular arrangement is because there are 4 outlets on the master cylinder, does the left front outlet have to be for the left front brake? if you get me? :S hard to describe lol
