Welcome mate!
I wouldn't go from an S3 to a 172 cup, the difference would be too enormous.
You'll get a nice 182 for £4,500. Main things you want to look out for
- cambelt and aux belt done (ideally at a specialist)
- dephaser pulley done too preferably
- FSH at a specialist
- gearbox, theyre...
Lol.
I've just given up with it. I've replaced the seals, used a silicone spray. I just can't work out why it happens, it can go a month without leaking and then fill up 3 days in a row. Bloody thing. It's lucky it's fun to drive or I'd have set fire to it by now :)
I would mind if it was a...
The roof on my brabus roadster leaks seriously about once a fortnight, seemingly fir no reason... I have to keep a collection of towels covering the inside in bad weather.
It didn't eat the freeist flowing. Lol.
They're renowned to be the best performing stealth aren't they? I haven't seen any dyno results though.
To be fair, unless you're planning on major tuning work, it won't make much difference.
How is it that when I bring up Someone's spelling I get slated and now you all join in! I must have picked a day when the CS grammar police weren't on patrol ;)

It's not your fault mate, plenty of people get sucked in by bulls**t advertising. Unless you know the Clio engines, you'd have no reason to doubt them.

You'll notice...
You're going to get torn to pieces when people notice this thread I'm afraid mate.
- 197's are not 197ps. None of the Renault engines actually make the quoted figures.
- a 'superchip' will not give you 218hp or 205ft/lb of torque.
- finally, it's probably best you don't disagree with people who...
Take it to a specialist.
Unfortunately, Renault themselves quite often don't know what they're talking about. There's been plenty of threads on here about Renault cocking stuff up, overcharging and ripping people off.
Ohhhh! I didn't realise you had a mk3! In that case you may be ok with 17's.... I'd imagine 15's will be too small for it really.
Lowering, buy some eibach sportlines, great spring and reasonably priced.
You won't be able to get much of a drop at all if you've got 17's, not unless you fancy doing some 'modifications' to your arches with a hammer.
Get shot of the 17's, buy some 15's / 16's and drop it on it's bum with Vmaxx coilovers :)
