    Twingo 172

I was going to wire up a single speed (slim) fan at one point...basically this is how I saw it worked... Two outputs on the 172 ECU going to relaybox...one high-speed one low-speed. I was just going to wire them both together as a trigger for a single normal relay (so the fan would come on if...

Try and get the bracket a lot lower, im re-doing mine as it means you have to turn the TPS upside down which isnt ideal as it fouls on the bonnet :(

GB Engineering in Nantwich (Tel: 01270 841081) They made some nice shafts up for Mark One on here for his 20vt conversion - he made the mock ups to the length he wanted and they made the final ones... Might be of some use!

You turn left on the roundabout instead of right to B&Q (As you come off the M62). Then follow the duel carrigeway down for about a mile and LA bowl is on the roundabout, on the right. Turn right at the roundabout then right at the set of lights straight after

    ph1 172 zorst different to a ph2?

Look underneath the side or front of the car, there is enough room to see if you have a single box cat or a twin barrel style - cant miss it!

    Rose jointed dogbone Mount

Well im guessing Ph1 boxes have the same design as a Mk1 Box acctually, as they can be used in the Mk1 conversions so the dogbone mounting has to be pretty similar... Maybe just some Ph2 and 182 boxes are the one where the bolt goes in upwards? Never seen one in person though!

    Rose jointed dogbone Mount

I remember seeing a 1*2 with a sheared off gearbox mount (on the casing) when using a polybushed mount (bmh.01 maybe? Although his box may have been a dodgy one, who knows) Ive not seen a Mk2 box that uses the twisted sort of bracket in person, so im not sure on the design differences... Ive...

    Splitting The Outer CV Joint

Not bothered taking the gaitor off yet and cleaning the grease off, but how does the outer (hub side) of the driveshaft split from the shaft itself? Im swapping the outer section to my good driveshaft as the thread for the hub nut is f*cked.. Thanks.

    Rose jointed dogbone Mount

I use one to adjust the 'pitch' of the engine so the downpipe clears the smaller gap on a Mk1, and to stop any knocking/banging

Luckily there was tarmac that gripped...if it was all grass it would have easily been an impact! Cheers for the comments everyone.

    Disappointed with brakes?

Odd - Ive been using cheapy HC disks, DS2500 pads, cheapy fluid and braided lines....bled before every trackday, brakes were just as good if not better even after the ~12th trackday - still 1/3 of the pad left too... Never had any issues out on track, even after 30 min stints, just keep going...

    Ph1 172 Idle Problem

Easy to check, start it without an elbow/filter on it....see what position the butterfly is in. Apart from that mine idled high if the lambda sensor or idle control valve wasnt plugged in

Mk1 F4R/172'd Track Car Project [Year 3 - Engine and Chassis Rebuild]

Re: Mk1 F4R'd Track Car Project [2010 Winter Rebuild] Just fitted spare coilpack, hanging in mid air. Started fine - no chugging idle and no crazy missfire. I think its something wrong with the leads TBF, as the situation seems to change every time I unplug and re-plug them in. Going to try...

Mk1 F4R/172'd Track Car Project [Year 3 - Engine and Chassis Rebuild]

Re: Mk1 F4R'd Track Car Project [2010 Winter Rebuild] Yeah, still got my gearbox-to-chassis earth on (passenger wheel arch). Starter turns every time without fail. Going to get this new loom sorted, get it on and then start changing stuff like leads until the problem f*cks off hopefully!

Mk1 F4R/172'd Track Car Project [Year 3 - Engine and Chassis Rebuild]

Re: Mk1 F4R'd Track Car Project [2010 Winter Rebuild] Yeah. Im going to compression test it tomorrow to be sure thats all good. I know the plugs are fine, the only other variables are the coilpack and leads. Oh - and then the entire loom lol. Got another standard 172 Ph1 engine loom from...

Mk1 F4R/172'd Track Car Project [Year 3 - Engine and Chassis Rebuild]

Re: Mk1 F4R'd Track Car Project [2010 Winter Rebuild] Started it earlier and it fired up first time again...but now Im getting some crazy sort of missfire (sounds like its running on 3.5) and it dosent want to rev up. Checked lead order and they are all fine, not tried my spare coilpack yet...
