Re: Mk1 F4R'd Track Car Project [2010 Winter Rebuild]
Yeah, no movement anywhere apart from the driveshaft if sat still and just jacked up!
Yeah, I thought there should be a bit, but usually no noise like its making (clunk clunk when going in and out)...
Its getting worse when driving -...
Re: Mk1 F4R'd Track Car Project [2010 Winter Rebuild]
Cheers for the comment!
After driving the car with the shafts changed, a knocking had started from the N/S front. It was more of a hollow knocking noise rather than a clunk - but I thought yeah its possibly a ball joint.
Checked...
My local (General Traffic) could get them, along with a few others (CES, Andrew Page)...
Not sure who's local to you? I know 'Andrew Cooke' on here just bought one himself, its mentioned in his project thread
Just fit the 172 Ph1 running gear to the Mk1 Subframe, I have it all on mine (Wrote a guide)
Everything physically fits and bolts together fine, but if you did it you would need a Williams steering rack due to it being so much wider than a valver. With Williams widetrack you can get away with...
Re: Mk1 F4R'd Track Car Project [2010 Winter Rebuild]

As mentioned a few pages back I have always had problems with the hub nut thread on the N/S driveshaft, i.e. the nut not going on. I got a scrap driveshaft from Whiteley and attmpted to swap the...
Re: Mk1 F4R'd Track Car Project [2010 Winter Rebuild]

Re: Mk1 F4R'd Track Car Project [2010 Winter Rebuild]

Re: Mk1 F4R'd Track Car Project [2010 Winter Rebuild]
Grip-tape on the way at some point! Also still got to add padding to the cage and a few other things to tidy up etc.
Was taken out end of 2008, never had anything really - any bad bad rain and its not driven. Light rain isnt bad if the...
Re: Mk1 F4R'd Track Car Project [2010 Winter Rebuild]
Had a new one here for the past 6 months with a weld on-pop off boss, but just not had chance to get it tigged onto the column yet!
Re: Mk1 F4R'd Track Car Project [2010 Winter Rebuild]
Well I had a PM from Andrew Cooke and hes bought a replacement 172 CV, and he said it didnt seem to come with a circlip I think, and it was just possibly a push fitment?!
Re: Mk1 F4R'd Track Car Project [2010 Winter Rebuild]
Apparently some of them had a circlip that was the same, but ive not had chance to have another look yet...
Few proper pics from earlier now its mostly rebuilt...
Nearly hidden most of the wiring/boxes - fusebox gone from...
Re: Mk1 Hybrid rebuild
Cool, think mine are 4mm too - as far as I know they were from P4P originally
Im booking the June Rockingham (14th) this week, then got Cadwell on the 7th July and a dirt cheap Mallory Park on a weekend in August with RTOC...few others inbetween too probably :)
Re: Mk1 F4R'd Track Car Project [2010 Winter Rebuild]
Only original thing still left on the car really, special feature :rasp:
Got a new shifter mechanism to fit when I get around to it, just need to source the right size rose-joint for the underside yet!
