Burps running the saxo setup IIRC...
DCI rack as a manual isnt heavy though either really, once you're past 10mph there is no difference really, easily drivable
Ah cool!
I wouldnt have bothered doing a custom bellhousing for a JC5 if I was going down that route, id find a better stronger box that could take more power in the future if thats what the plan was...Chris/Scoff with his O2J box is a good example, although custom shafts are then needed etc...
Ive seen it done once or twice...Andy has put F4RT pistons in an F4R block, running the F4RT head and turbo setup etc. Tapped a thread into the head for the F4R cambelt idler...then just bolted the JC5 box on and dropped it in..
Re: Mk1 F4R'd Track Car Project [2010 Winter Rebuild]
It seemed to weld OK, I ground quite a bit off every joint where it was going to be welded...didnt get any funny reacting or blobby welds really...
Doh! And seam welding the shell, not sure if I can be bothered considering everything is...
Re: Mk1 F4R'd Track Car Project [2010 Winter Rebuild]
Picked up another (straight) subframe off Northy last night!
It could be jigged, I know someone with stuff that can probably do it but it would never be right, and the car would never align properly again after it being bent that much and...
Re: Mk1 F4R'd Track Car Project [2010 Winter Rebuild]
I dont know which cup car it came with, he just said it was on one that he had. The pink one or the white one northy is on about... If its the white one that was in a smash it has more than likely bent then, considering the rollcage was bent...
Re: Mk1 F4R'd Track Car Project [2010 Winter Rebuild]
Possibly, had a few others message me on C16V. Im going to probably wait until mine is running again and Ive tested its not damaged anything, then it would not take long to make some up...
I guess it must have, didnt know he had/did have...
Re: Mk1 F4R'd Track Car Project [2010 Winter Rebuild]
Because he bought another, had someone seam weld it, then powdercoated and fitted it back onto his pink rally car....
Re: Mk1 F4R'd Track Car Project [2010 Winter Rebuild]
Yeah I guessed as much, probably been head on into a tyre wall.
Only welded it all rather than just bits to get more practice lol.
Re: Mk1 F4R'd Track Car Project [2010 Winter Rebuild]
I got it off Evogone, looked fine and he thought it was. I trust him but its just one of those things, all the time and effort wasted!
Yeah, was told it was fine and came off a Cupcar, got it from Evogone as said above...weather he knew...
Re: Mk1 F4R'd Track Car Project [2010 Winter Rebuild]
Decided to swap the subframes over today. Got the old one off the car in just under an hour, just left the hubs/driveshafts/shocks hanging. Was not in bad condition considering the amount its been driven...
The rubber bush...
Re: Mk1 F4R'd Track Car Project [2010 Winter Rebuild]
Il find the part number shortly Daniel..
Wookie - Nope, both front bolts and the N/S rear bolt are solid...the O/S rear has a random rubber bush and is 10mm lower than the N/S
Re: Mk1 F4R'd Track Car Project [2010 Winter Rebuild]
Just finished the solid subframe-to-chassis mount. Started out as a piece of solid piece 42mm bar...
Drilled an M12 hole through, then chopped into two. The height on top has to be 10mm, so it was machined down to slot into the hole on...
The (newer version) red one is quite a bit more bulky than the silver one in the PH link...my neighbour has one of those (from costco years ago) and its pretty much the same apart from being slightly different construction. Just noticed the box on the silver one says 24kg, the others weigh 40kg+ lol
You might have just disturbed the N/S gaitor that bolts to the gearbox when you fitted the coilovers Steve and had a bit come out. As if you take that off completely before draining the gearbox you will get box oil just pouring out...so there is always some oil sat in it..
Looks good at that...
Looks tidy - Just check the sills and underside very well to make sure there are no rust issues, also check everything that would be on the MOT. He says it will fly through but I'd still be checking every last thing
Re: Mk1 F4R'd Track Car Project [2010 Winter Rebuild]
Yummy.
Subframe done too, its come out well with all the seam welding. I did a bit more welding on it before taking it to the powdercoaters from the last pics.
Radiator Mount..
In the middle of sorting a solid steel bush...
Sigh! Who mentioned cup racers...?
- Pair of new wishbones = £??
- Set of new bushes (As said I didnt care weather they improved performance or did this or did that b*llocks etc) = £60
Now you can't buy the standard bushes from Renault seperate can you, so what if I wanted my wishbones...
I fitted PowerFlex's to my 172 Wishbones as the standard rubbers were completely shot. Decided to get them instead of spending the same amount on two new wishbones, as they will last twice as long weather they do make a difference or not to the handling...
After fitting the metal sleeves and...
As said megane bottom end is common, I had one in mine with a williams head and it was fine...
With regards to the 172 conversion, its just the wiring that is the complicated bit. The physical engine fitting can be done in a few hours. I wrote a guide thats been used by a few people and makes...
