Re: Project 172 **** ITB'S - 204bhp *** February Redline Feature
TBH its not something he needs to worry about. Hes got an oil cooler which most 172 track cars dont, so thats plenty of reassurance. As long as there is enough oil in it there will not be a problem
Send FK an email...prices might be better than you expect...
For example I had two Gaz Adjustable Shocks, sent them off and had them refurbed for 12.50+VAT each for new seals and internals...
Yeah it still feels very strong, easily snaps back too. Butterfly clears everything on the inside without resistance, think im just going to keep an eye out for another throttle body, not in any major rush.
Some days it will be fine and not happen once, others (like today) it happens every time...
Yeah ive cleaned it many times, must have had it off the inlet 5 or 6 times... Got plenty of grease still on it too... Didnt really improve it at all for me, I think the spring has just gone 'slack'
I took all my EuroCarParts/GSF/Renault/GeneralTraffic/Factor reciepts to the store in a huge folder and got one, lol

I would imagine a replacement spring would not be hard to get made. Ive had plenty made as one-offs for various machines and components in the past, I dont see why it would be any different if I took it apart and took the spring to them
I meant Mk1 as in Mk1 (my car lol)......but I think the 172 Ph1 pedal is very similar.
Yes it only does it when warm, and yeah sometimes lifting the pedal will do it - but that depends on how you've got your cable setup, I have a bit of slack when its in the fully up position so that does not...
The spring could be knackered and not returning the butterfly fully...
The pedal in a Mk1 is the simplest thing ever, its just a piece of metal and a block bolted to the car, no spring or anything on there, the cable/throttle body is what returns the pedal upwards.
Also, if I tap the...
Mine does this and has been getting worse, although im certain its the throttle body.
Ive had it off and apart, cleaned the springs and mech, refitted with a brand new throttle cable and it still does it. Re-routed the cable too and still no change. Thought it could be the idle control valve...
£70 will get you the best jack ive owned to date, and Ive had plenty (even a machine mart one that twisted with a car than weighs under a ton by a fair amount)...
Mine fit to FK's perfectly fine...just seems AST have f*cked up with the design of the nuts completely this time round :dapprove: I got them cheap off another member early in 2009, and the bonus was not having to drill holes round the strut top!
Whats these Gaz ones that are apparently being...
Re: Mk1 F4R'd Track Car Project [2010 Winter Rebuild]
yeah, they can be picked up really cheap anyway, and if you're painting/powdercoating the condition does not really matter I guess...
Once this is powdercoated Il just remove the other one and put this in its place straight away, only an...
Re: Mk1 F4R'd Track Car Project [2010 Winter Rebuild]
Yeah I was going to do it an inch spaced at first, but from other pics I had seen of them done on another forum they had done it all the way along so I just went with it..
Unsure what else is different, I think it may be the 'williams' spec...
Re: Mk1 F4R'd Track Car Project [2010 Winter Rebuild]
Cheers for the comments everyone.
Savi, these are the easy jobs that I keep cracking on with ;) The big jobs keep getting put off - like taking a holesaw to the bulkhead of the car for the cage/strut bars, as I dont want to get it wrong lol.
Re: Mk1 F4R'd Track Car Project [2010 Winter Rebuild]
Been getting on with bits and bobs over the past week. Picked up a Mk1 Cup Car subframe from Evogone, as there were a few modifications I wanted to do from the one thats currently on the car. The subframe has sump guard mounts already welded...
