There's only the two that I know of on RSOC that have been rejected...up until that point quite a few modded, and even heavily modded, cars were getting engines replaced under warranty.
Understandably the rejected parties are not best pleased! And yes, £6,500 is the figure I keep hearing for...
In other news 2 people have now had failed engine replacements denied under warranty because of being modded beyond FPM375. It seems Ford are clamping down.
That's another good reason for keeping mine completely standard.
The diff should transform it. I felt mine as MR230 was crying out for it...yours must be insane.
I'm going to have to hook up with my mate and his 100% standard ST and video a comparison...see if it actually makes me smile. I reckon it might.
I agree it can handle it...I just don't agree it needs it or is a better car for it.
I never enjoyed my ST as much once I had MR230 fitted. All that torque is kind of wasted unless you're rolling at a fairly high speed as you're always fighting straight line traction. In a corner the extra...
Yep. In its earlier guise with me...200bhp, 215 at the most, is all they need and as such they're a perfect daily.
The RS is epic in every way...but you do have to pedal it hard to feel the benefit of where the £35k went LOL.
It is indeed. I love the place myself. The history, the fact that it's the only circuit in the country that's not been sanitised over time, the fact that it's f***ing fast, the way it's so immaculately maintained all year round, it's just a nice place to be at any time.
It's even better that I...
Exactly this. It's on my doorstep and I like how they run it there. You never have more than 10 cars on track at once and it's a 2.5 mile circuit...that's 0.25 mile of track per car to work in. So even if they do let their guard down and allow an idiot on track, generally, they're not going to...
I wasn't on track. I was there as a stop off to setup for my boost and torque limit video, got chatting to a marshall, and he said "bring your car over" and got on the radio so I jumped at the chance.
At least now if I spend £500 on a day and some insurance I know there's a chance I'll get a...
I don't know if anyone's seen this but the RS 'Edition' has been announced.
https://www.pistonheads.com/news/ph-driven/ford-focus-rs-edition-review/36660
I'd been giving serious thought to getting this as it is the last run out model (production has gone on far longer than was originally...
Nice! 10k has gone by fast!
I'm in a mk7 Fiesta courtesy car right now...makes me realise just how much I miss my ST and also how much Ford just got right with the basic mk7...even with a gutless NA 82bhp and 84 lbft it's such a fun thing to pedal!
What can I read from the engine that will show that torque limiting happening?
It doesn't appear to be boost. Ignition timing/advance? I really want to find out what holds it back so I can see how launch control lifts that restriction (as it's supposed to do) but I genuinely have no idea on...
Sadly yes I do. Over on RSOC they're properly "OMFG you're being illegal" and will take any video down showing clear naughtiness.
I can just about push it to an indicated 75 and they'll let that slide. Me and @Jeff simply getting a dab of oppo around roundabouts or showing acceleration through...
LOL maybe but I have no idea. Unlike my other videos posted on there this one has had only one reply in 24 hours. Either its far too geeky for them or, as you say, they just don't like to hear what I'm saying!
Drive it on a track before you do a single other thing to it...and as said above get some tuition while you're out there. Your car will love you for it and you'll likely get a 3-5 seconds better lap time over what some camber shims and roll bar tweaks will ever give you. You're obsessing over...
Copy that.
I'll most likely be there from the crack of dawn and for the entire day anyway wanting to catch all cars on film as they arrive and are run (unless of course anyone says non).
