Yeah I'm only going to buy privately, using a dealer for such an old car makes no sense.
There is one on Monaco owners group on FB but it has had the drivers door replaced due to a side impact that looks to me like it has crimped the sill just above the side skirt so that's another one to avoid
Yes exactly, I'm at fault for not checking but not stating it is a bit...well you know.
Anyway I've asked for my deposit back and he's been good about it.
Thanks for all the help, he's agreed to refund my deposit so here's hoping he does without me having to get angry. I've kept it very civil as although he didn't tell me about the cat c I also was foolish enough to not research it till now.
The search continues...
Iv
Ive struggled to find one but I am looking for flame red or Monaco only, not interested in any other colour ph2 172.
I may be interested in you Monaco 172 then if you did.
Ah bugger, I'm so pi$$Ed off with myself. I've put a small deposit on it too, I will call the bloke I think and just say look if I'd have noticed the cat c or you had been honest and admitted it I wouldn't have gone ahead.
Lesson learned
The v5 simply states states 'the estimated value of repair exceeded the estimated market value' where as the hpi check I did says cat c dated 30.4.2017
Other than that though it's had the belts done last October, 87k and in pretty good condition. Drivers bolster and steering wheel are in good condition in fact the steering wheels very good. Mot's confirm the mileage etc.
Still I feel stupid as I've never made this mistake before
I'll start by saying I've used the search and read a fair bit on this but I just want to have my thoughts confirmed by a human being.
I've kind of agreed on the purchase of a fairly low mileage Monaco 172 which it turns out was a cat c in April last year for a smashed bumper. Now to me that...
Potentially going to look at a 172 that will need work so don't want to put a full years insurance on it for it to be off the road.
It's over an hour away so not really in the 'it'll be alright to nip home' bracket. I've got van and motorbike insurance and am named on our family car policy so...
The ecu is going to be tested, if no fault with it there will be no charge. I'm pretty much at the mercy of them other than taking a day off work to limp it somewhere which I can't easily do at the moment

Got the bu##er off! Nut back on and a copper hammer, not sure how much abuse the bearing can take like that though?

Well in desperation I took it to a local auto electrics specialist, he had a brief look while I was there but is going to have a more involved look today. He was a bit puzzled by it but thinks it's a loom issue, quite a few faults came up one being throttle potentiometer, if it turns out to be...
A few things I've noticed today, the fan is no longer permanently on and the cc no longer displays set on the dash.
I've reset the brake pedal switch which changed nothing.
It still struggles to start first time but runs a bit rougher than usual smelling very rich with a bit of a leak around...
Would help if that one pin wasn't pushed in! I've been reading that it may be a Renault specific code.
Thanks for the help but I had the limp mode before I had fitted the shocks but I does seem abs related. However it really doesn't like starting which makes me wonder from go ogling it if it's...
