Exactly...ok the header tank is a bit of fancy metalwork, but it does serve a purpose - keeps the coolant system under higher pressure cos it has a high-pressure cap and thus the system works better. Likewise silicone hoses will never split or overheat and cos theyre not black its easier to see...
Once youve sorted the inlet though, head and cam work would really start to give you a lot of power. On a standard 16v head , a pair of Piper 270 cams (the fairly mild fast road profile) will give around 15bhp and with a the head and exhaust manifold gas-flowed, along with a proper chip and...
I would have thought a decat pipe, performance exhaust etc would be prerequisites for using the Alpha system. Power gains seen with Alpha induction would probably only be 20-30bhp *with* the exhaust system sorted.
Its no good being able to whack a decent inlet charge in if you cant get it...
Depends what the sub is. I seem to remember I made the box for my JL 10W0 around 0.8 or 0.9 cu ft.
But you really need the manufacturers specs to figure it out, whats your sub, 10" tells me itll be ok in a small box and would probably perform well in a sealed enclosure but we need more details?
Im trying to remember...errrmmm...firstly always deal in rms not peak power or any other weird measure. Anyway if your speakers could handle 100w (thats quite a lot for 5s) then youd want a 100w per channel amp at least.
The sub will need to be at least 2 or 3 times more power. Generally a...
Well the problem is the throttle body is an egg shape. It has two throttle plates, a small one and a big one underneath, hence the egg shape. But Ill try and measure the circumference all the way round.
Lmk when the websites up and running, have some pride in your 1.4! Theyre good motors and email me on nick@cliosport.net Ive got a couple of pictures of some well sorted 1.4s from Europe.
Dont know anywhere that keeps Eibach stuff in stock, but Carnoisseur can certainly get their stuff pretty easily, give Chris a ring at the SOuthend branch.
Youd think theyd be more popular, those overbraids for your hoses. I think the problem is that they are a b*****d to fit cos you have to disconnect every pipe, hose or loom that youre doing. Plus everyone knows that they are just an engine dress up part, not actually done for functional reasons...
Simon, Ive been thinking the exact same thing - fab up a big bore pipe to attach to the throttle body, have this linked to a BMC airbox and then the usual route down to the wheelarch air feed.
Would work better than the original airbox maybe?
Shouldnt run lean, thats what ECUs, lamda sensors and fuel injection were designed for. So that slight fluctuations in the inlet air volume or temperature wouldnt knock the air/fuel mix off its proper ratio. Plug check is the easiest way to see whats what, but I doubt therell be a problem at all.
In my (old) Clio I thought of putting it under the passenger seat but felt it would be a bit untidy. In the end I fitted it into a covered false floor that I built in the boot. Part of it is recessed to take the footprint of the sub box, the rest is about 4" deep to take the amp, some tools and...
There is *no* intake pipe between the airbox and the engine. On a 16v or Willy, the airbox bolts directly to the throttle body. Theres no room for an intermediate pipe!
Im not the legal expert on this but I was pretty sure that any kind of tint, even light smoke/grey on the front side windows, when put over the original factory tint, will go below the legal light transmission amount.
Maybe coppers wont make such a fuss if they see you driving around with a...
Its got to be OZ, nothing else will do. Except maybe some BBS splitties. Anyway, OZ Super T or Superleggera will do the trick. Id go for the superleggera personally.
Make sure that they are nothing to do with Red Dot - proper TarOx are hand made in Italy. The Red Dots masquerade as the same thing and lots of shops will tell you they are Tar Ox but they arent. The two companies used to be linked and then TarOx ditched them cos the Red Dot discs werent...
A splitter sticks out, usually horizontally, beyond the original line of the bumper. A valance hangs down and makes the bumper deeper. Some things are called splitters which arent really splitters ie Seat Ibiza splitters or Laguna splitters. They are just a valance really.
WIth a standard stereo go for up. Has it got a tape player? If so even better, leave a couple of tapes lying around on the dashboard and no-ones gonna want that head unit - youd have to pay people to take it! :-)
I tried modding my original parcel shelf for stealth and it was a washout. Because of the weight of the wood the shelf started to bend and really creaked badly. If you can afford it youre best off getting a proper Stealth Shelf. Put simply, they are solid quality, they work and they make the...
Yeah so all the more reason to spend it before you get married!
Id say best bet for a grand would be ditch the standard head unit and get a decent one with 1 or 2 preouts. Then stick a quality 4 channel amp in the boot and run 2 channels bridged for a 10" or 12" sealed sub-box, the other 2...
Errr, are they the RGM ones? I used to have some of those until I ripped them off going through a ford. First thing to do is spray them up, 2 coats of primer, 2 or 3 coats of paint and a 3 or 4 coats of lacquer, they get a beating down there at the bottom of the bumper.
You basically need to...
With OMP you get the screws, I seem to remember theyre about a 5 or 6 mm, but cant be sure. Theyre just self tappers so the whole job can be done from the engine bay, no mucking about inside the suspension turrets.
What wheels are they? go for gold if you want, if theyre tough motorsport six or seven spokes maybe go for white for a more hardcore look. But I would say that wouldnt I.
Ive got a Magnex decat pipe on mine and it probably gives under 5 brake at most. Its more like the last piece of the puzzle that you need to get your engine flowing properly before you start to get serious with head-work, throttle bodies etc.
I had a Hill Power induction kit and a Magnex s/s...
