Won't last long 200Nm (147lb) was the limit for the box for Renault warently department it will take more as people have proved but others have broken the gearbox with stock power and abuse.
Personally I'd never try using much more power on the gearbox for the main reason that there better...
172 engine and box are only worth about £800 or so. 225 engine is £2.5k or so then you need intercooler stand alone ECU driveshafts are custom made from the old ones and Vag ones jointed together.
Matt Black reconed it cost him £6k i think with no labour. You could get it a bit cheaper I guess...
My personal opinion is most of them are only useful to make a bit more noise (each to there own regards this) and it helps lower the cost of servicing as you can reuse them.
Just use it and be careful IMO. You need a new shaft anwya so any extra damage doens't matter.
If you want get some duck tape on it or better still you could fix it using some of the bycycle punchure repair kit stuff.
Yozzasport do a 6 speed conversion into the stock 172/182 gearbox but the normal 6 speedo from Meggys etc won't fit. You need the bottom end of the 2.0 engine as well but its not a bad idea to upgrade to this as its stronger for turbo work than the 172 bottom end.
Matt Black had one Mk1 phase...
Its not difficult backs are dead easy 20 minutes at worse.
Fronts take a bit longer as the stuts got to come to pieces.
I'd say 2.5 hours in totali your talking your time and never done it before.
Onces you've got it mastered you could do it in 1.5 hours I'd guess.
Dificult one I'd tell them about it for your chnaging lines as tey look different and you should tell them about the pads then again there a replacing pad so its a grey area.
So long as the disks are stock ones then there no need to tell them.
Insurers if they deel with mods just usually...
Any chance of a more detailed picture of the end of the bolt and the bit in the nut from the looks it looks like its got somehting in the bolt.
It might be the bolt was done totightetly I've cracked them before now when I torque them up above normal torque.
Chnaging for 4 pots then yep. Chnaging to different pads is a difficult one there replacment so maybe not but pads such as DS2500's do say for race use only so infact road use would render them illegal possibly but who'd strip a car down that much to see the brakes you wouldn't see the backing...
Arr there a pain to do nothng much to look out for if you've ever done drums before you'll know what to do I might write a guid when I change mine again next weekend. Just remember the clips are a pain to do and take a picture of how there put together before you stip them down.
Just remember...
Stock on the back no point upgrading IMO unless the stuff (pads) are cheaper.
For the fornt I'd go with DS2500 and new disks and bleed the fluid. if you want as many people do chnage the brake lines as they make for a difference.
You won't get any extrta power just from bigger injectors unless your car needs extra fuel.
Pici 41 are bigger I belive good for 220hp+ or so, stock are 208hp.
Tracking nope no need unless you think its needs doing due to the tyre wear.
Balancing should always be done anyone who doesn't do it should be shut down.
