Those sill stands are monsters!
Nice to see someone else rallying a Clio. Would love to convert mine, think it would make a cracking little car for not a lot of money.
Fair enough. I would do it myself. The car is totally apart and every little helps. You can only really do the shell once, so it's best to do it right first time in my opinion.
This comes from someone who has a lot of background in engineering and motorsport by the way. As I say, my OCD...
I think it shows that they peaked a bit early with the Trophy. Perhaps should have stuck the body add-ons from this onto it, made it a bit more extreme looking. The regular 200/220 look cack next to this.
For most of the ones I did I just walked in and spoke to someone. For the Golf I had to book one as they had to make sure the car was available (it was being used by a manager and he wasn't always there).
Renault were pricks I must say, so I ended up trying one I found at a Fiat dealer. I...
Not driven the Fez ST. Really should. Drove a 200T and found it very disappointing. Gearbox was terrible compared to the DSG in my Golf.
Just saying that surely it's worth test driving the options first? You can only learn so much from a review. Before I got my Golf I watched loads of videos...
Fair play for tackling the sealant like that. I would have just sent it to a blaster lol.
I saw a bit of a seam welding chat and I would be interested in what problems your friend thinks it could cause?
I have heard people say it can cause cracking, but usually only when the seams are welded...
Drive both. And drive the 208 for that matter.
Better to make an informed opinion by testing everything rather than ruling a car out because people you know have one. Fiesta is widely regarded as the best B-segment hot hatch of its generation, so worth looking at surely?
I've never really understood why this would put someone off buying a car.
They're popular because they're the best car in their class, surely that's a great reason to buy one, not to avoid one?
The market might well disagree with you - values for these are shooting up, just like everything else from that era.
The Rattlesnake conversion makes it an acquired taste but I bet someone would pay decent money for it if it's in good nick.
Yeah I saw an awful picture recently of a MK1 Focus RS that was using harnesses with the standard seats. He binned it (quite hard) on track and the seat had collapsed quite badly. It had actually bent the back rest. I'd personally only recommend using harnesses with fixed-back seats. Worth...
It's not as bad as it could be because you have the harnesses mounted at a good angle but, if you did have a smash, the harnesses could cause the seat to collapse. Really wouldn't recommend running harnesses with standard seats so worth looking into bucket seats, or fitting standard seatbelts...
Never liked the looks of these, but they're certainly one hell of a car. Must be mad at that power.
Why air suspension though? Surely that kind of defeats the object when Nissan put so much effort into getting the suspension right?
Yeah don't think I will ever grow out of stupid cars, who cares what other people think? I admit I probably wouldn't drive a Saxo as a daily (just because it would be annoying as much as anything) but if it's a fun car then I don't think it matters.
