The center sections fail there not the best take it to Renault if its noticable otherwsie they'll probably not bother.
A bit of lube or similar should fix it try and see what exactly causing the rattling.
You shouldn't loose any power but a panel filter maybe with some cleaning up and removal of excess plastic in the normal intake filter would make for the biggest gains of free flowing but it won't give any extra power.
A diesel won't loose power unless the exhaust is a bit smoky which indicates...
The serv light doesn't indicate the car needs serving only that theres a problem.
The 172 should be serviced ever 12k or 2 yrs whichever comes earlier contary to what some dealers say about it being ever 18k (there wrong).
There usually another light on the dash comes on with the serv light...
I can only recomend the dealer in Chester for good service. I don't know of any local garage who knows about the 172 real. Then again most stuff you cna do yourself for free labour.
For cheap work try Lewis Read but only go there for a dealer stamp as there useless.
Yep thats what I was saying you can get Renault to order the new metal bit of the key from France for £20 or so. You can chnage all the locks though thats what i'd do personally as although if anyone trys stealing the 182 as they have the old keys they won't be able to sdtart the car as you can...
I'm not sure the new car will affect values that much so long as it has a good reviews (which it will) as they won't discount the new car much.
Definatly look elsewhere the Sat navs not amazing the wheels arn't right I'm guessing its been in a crash or hit a few curbes.
Only one other option.
Contact a breaker or j3ned on here and buy a whole new set of locks then get some new plips (the remote bit of the keys from Renault for £35 each) and get Renault to program hem for about £40 each remote.
£488 seems a bit high but you'd have to chnage all the locks so...
Decats seem to make a big difference on Williams I think there usually very restrictive.
Gains depends on so much you should expect a bit more power and free reving though.
I'd get one there very reliable realy its just little rattles etc.
However when you realy get driving it you forget all there weekness.
I'd prefere a 172/182 with just 60hp than a 2000hp Ibiza you only have to drive them both to see how much more fun it is.
Renault can adjust them with there laptop but easy thing is to go under th back of the car and on the back axle on the drivers side (I think) of the suspesnion beam there a little thingie which moves up and down with the suspension when you see it you'll know how to adjust it then adjust it with...
I'm assuming you have a Mk1 as the Mk2 only came out later on.
Regardless any engine will fit the 172 needs to have custom mounts or a very very big bulge or individual throttle bodies to make it fit.
So long as you have all the bits you can swop with any engine though. You'd need ECu wiring...
£60 or so depends on dealer.
You can get any garage to do it for about £30~40 realy.
Brakes arn't covered underwarently ie consumables it pads but servos etc are covered.
Just unplug the second sensor and tape the wiring up out the way.
You should only be able to put the cat on 1 way round and you plug in the sensor which would be the first one the exhaust gas would get to.
ie
Old setup
Engine -> exhaust manifold -> sensor 1 -> cat -> sensor two -> rest of...
I've started a thread in http://www.cliosport.net/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=19 reciently saying what each pinout does. Its called something like radio/CD faq.
The rears are expensive probably worth seeing if Yozzasport do them cheaper. The front are 280mm.
£60 for nw front disks delivered if you shop around for stock disks and Renault pads are £40 or so which are fine unless you've had fade issues.
