    My New Subaru VW

That's a lot of money! Could you use a charge cooler like on the older Legacy? Might make it easier. Is there much space up front for cooling bits? Saying that, I imagine one of these with over 200bhp would probably be a bit scary.

The trucks are much cooler in my view. Selling the van? What's it like with the Subaru engine?

    Clio 172 cup rally/race/track car

Should be a cracking upgrade this. A really good step up in performance. Lower arms are interesting. I like the rod end bearings on the inner joints, but using them on the outers would worry me a bit. Have seen them shear on heavy landings when used like that, as it puts a lot of shear stress on...

One of the best Clio Rally car in the uk !!!

From what Nathan told me, it's going to be rather good  Oh yes. The driver makes such a huge difference, especially at the level most of us compete at, as there is so much variety in experience and ability. I've seen Simon Mauger put a pretty basic 1400 Micra into the top five on a...

One of the best Clio Rally car in the uk !!!

Steve Quigley's car was pretty quick. Don't know if he still has it. Abi Mahmood has a Clio F2000, so looks like a S1600, but has a 2.0-litre engine. Don't know much about it. Who is it on here that has @NorthloopCup's old engine? Didn't that end up in a car with a clicky box? There can't be...

It's hard to choose a colour really. White is a ball ache, as it shows every mark.

    Clio 182 vs Twingo 133

I'd also be thinking about a 197. A bit heavier, but getting to be good value.

Thanks man. It would look awesome with the Speedlines and a slight drop, but will have to see how it goes.

It's not too bad. It's had a little paint, but the body is ok overall. Seats are fucked though lol

    First & current hot hatch

I did have an Si Briefly. I was so into Escorts for years, with the MK5 Register, RS2000 club etc. Was looking at MK5/6 Escorts recently. Good ones don't look very common now, and prices are creeping up. Would still love one with a turbo Zetec in it. I'd love to drive one. I bet most of the...

    My RB 197

And that brings us up to date. Last week I decided to tackle the rusty radiator support, so the car was jacked up, the front bumper removed and the support taken off: Removed: It was definitely rusty 😄 I decided that, rather than repairing it(!), I would go Cup racer style and just...

    My RB 197

Another purchase; six Speedline R3 wheels with AD08R tyres. Decided to test fit them as the lock means not much need to drive. The guy I bought them from supplied some wheel nuts with them, but I don't have studs, and the standard wheel bolts seem to fit fine. They're 17x7J, ET41. They sit well...

    My RB 197

I fitted a Powerflex insert to the low torque mount. I should really replace the whole thing at some point, because it's a bit grim. Will do the upper at some point too. I also had new track rods and ends fitted, then did the anti-rotation and drop links. No pictures of any of this, but it's...

    My RB 197

The first few months were just spent driving it. It did act as a van, shifting a load of stuff when I sold my Escort rally car: The brakes were rather rusty and grim, so I gave them a clean up and paint. Going to redo the fronts though, as they didn't come up very well. Need to get some new...

    My RB 197

Not sure how much of a project this is, but thought I would put something on here. Bought it last August as I needed a new daily. I wasn't particularly in need of another hot hatch, but I was bored of the dreary Vectra estate that had been performing tow car duties for a while, and when it shat...

    First & current hot hatch

First hot hatch was probably this Escort S technically, though it wasn't that hot in reality, as it was just a 1.6 EFI CVH with about 105bhp. It was my third car, as I had a couple of four door saloon Escorts before that. Only a handful of them left now I would have thought. They were pretty...

That's beautiful, but I bet it will never been driven properly ever again. They're getting like Cossies now unfortunately. It's nice to see them preserved, but they're all about driving, not polishing.

    Punto GT

Love it. Always had a soft spot for these. My best mate's parents had a couple of cooking ones as family cars. The second one was on about 150k when the odometer broke, and it still kept going for a couple of years. The dealer always joked about buying it back and putting it on display in the...

34 years ago Rallying lost a big talent.

The Joaquim Santos one was bad too. I'm not sure I would really blame any driver's to be honest though. The whole thing was badly managed by the FIA, spectator control was beyond hopeless and many of the fans were ignorant of the risks of standing so close. It was a disaster waiting to happen...

All 197/200’s on the forum. Get in here!

Test fitted some Speedline R3 wheels on mine a couple of weeks ago. Not sure if I will keep them with everything going on at the moment, but they do sit nicely. Needs lowering mind.

    Where would you buy from?

Usually look on eBay, Auto Trader, forums, Facebook, Gumtree. eBay is ok. You get good and bad sellers. Facebook and gumtree is where most of the lunatics seem to hang out now. Don't bother with piston heads, as it's tiny and most stuff is over priced.

    24k Mile Charade GTTi

Agreed. I guess you could argue that it's already started. The big turbo stuff has gone up, and good EG/EK Civics are going up too. It was definitely the best era for Japanese stuff.
