plans are keep it standard bar a decent suspension setup and 4 pots. even got a standard exhaust coming for it!!
ordering a full front end refresh for it every bush, mount etc
RS tuning remap is all you need on these, no need changing turbos or anything like that
I never got round to mapping mine just unplugged the MAF sensor on the airbox and it pulled much stronger, was smokey though lol
car is getting new engine mounts so decided to give the engine a clean up...
as it stood
rocker cover (car had a new engine recently and it had apparently been sitting under a cover outside for a while)
inlets, engine mount and fuel rail guard painted (throttle body was also done...
I love them they are staying, well when I say staying these ones are getting sold and im buying a new set to refurb, only reason being is the previous owner just 3 weeks ago had 4 brand new budget tyres fitted to these so they are ideal to sell to someone as budget tyres are not for me lol!!
gave it a quick going over with a clay bar and then the machine polisher to bring the paint back into some sort of reasonable condition and then decide what panels need paint
got this to deal with tomorrow...
then these...
Was a mates, I wouldn't say I got a bargain but I wouldn't say I robbed him, we were both happy!
LOL so is everyone! Clio number 8, RS number 4, 172 number 3 :)
cheers mate, ill stick a project thread up soon, gonna order a new set of engine mounts, front end refresh and take it from there.
has spax adjustables and springs, and what looks like some sort of custom stealth exhaust and sportscat
definately however ive just bought a ph2 172 for 1300 quid and sold the twingo for 3500 thats a lot of change and 200 less than it cost me 8 months and 15k miles ago so it was the right descision
decat is coming off too, imagine fitting a 182 manifold then removing it a day later, yep that's what ive got to do!!!!
brett, same here I actually didn't want to sell it, was turning out to be epic but im getting a good price for it so was rude not to! and will stop me blowing it up then...
that aint bad, sure they were closer to £600 a few years back?
ive got a 172 itch again but ive also got used to my quiet twingo and not sure I want to go back to loud exhausts (yup ive considered a handbag too!)
mate turned up with a bundle of cash tonight for me!!! im putting it back to standard tomorrow morning and hes driving it away tomorrow afternoon. gutted to see it go but on the plus side ive got 4k to waste on something new!!!
I wouldn't imagine there is much benefit going for 2.5 because 2.25" wont be a restriction when your still running standard downpipe and turbo, id have thought anyway!
Re: SUPER 1600 REPLICA based on 172, CLIO WILLIAMS Tribute, CLIO WILLIAMS IV (Austra
this had the potential to be either rubbish or epic, and my god it went full on epic!! brilliant big of engineering with the rear spacers!
this was my big question I always asked myself when I first got mine until I started to really get used to it, considering its bigger and heavier I could get so much more lift off oversteer than I could on a 172/182, it was comedy.
The levels of grip are simply awesome and as mentioned above...
sale has fallen through so its staying! im secretly happy about that!!
Protoxide were brilliant to deal with I had a massive delay because the guy making the downpipe cut his finger off in a machine! but they kept me well updated and threw in a few freebies to make up for it which was a nice...
yeah you can run it on 95 no problem but the map is designed to make the maximum potential from 98/99 so you really need that and will possibly take a few tanks of that before it really starts to make the most of it
I remember how surprized I was when I went from my 1.2 16v to my first 172 back when I was 17, I was getting 20 miles less to a full tank in the 172 than I was in the 1.2 16v! driving both as hard as I could of course given my age at the time lol
