was bored so decided to go get some paint etc and do my engine cover pearl black, now im no professional painter, infact it was my first attempt but quite happy with how it turned out, just need some more practice and a spray gun for my compressor would be handy!
gearboxes arnt an issue, anyone who tells you they are doesnt own one lol.
check for snapped handbrake cables, rear disks on these so check these (about £160 for a set of rear disks and bearings) ensure it pulls right to the 5k redline (it wont be great over 4.5k but it should still pull) and...
to change to the 1.6 ecu would require the ecu coded to the car so really your cheaper just mapping the 1.4 ecu that way your getting a better map than the 1.6 plus less cost!
k4m bottom end should bolt straight on giving an instant 10bhp and more torque id have thought! not that its that quick but cheap easy power since engines pop up cheap, just map the 1.4 ecu.
if the 1.4 throttle body is the same as the 1.6 then yes it will fit, its slightly bigger which in theory will give you a bit more air especially if paired with airbox/filter mods, not sure if you will notice it or not tho....
just stick with your standard airbox, remove the resonator and use...
avoid techni clutch they are cheap clutches painted red and sold as uprated, they are even worse than valeo, which are fine even when running quite a bit more power
150bhp a very expensive target for a k4m.
id go back to standard airbox, remove the resonator, run a feed from the airbox to the duct at the front of the battery, 2.0 f4r laguna throttle body, exhaust manifold (supersprint do one but what about the twingo RS? that one may fit) decat or sports...
we had a 55 plate 1.2 16v expression mk3, after selling it at 95k/2 years it didnt have one rattle, was still put together perfectly, still felt brand new and tight to drive. engine was making an extremely loud whine that renault had it in for 5 times and were un able to cure, it snapped a...
as above, got a set of 172 sunvisors for the dci 100 ut cant work out how they are wired? (im no electrician lol) any ideas assuming they come from the interior light?
much easier on a ramp but not that hard if you know what your doing/have done one before.
ive done a 1.2 16v, dci65 and 1.6 16v and they were all straight forward enough, doing my dci 100 next week too
JR5 wont fit a 172 either, JC5 is fine anyway as long as you know how to use it properly and not abuse it as long as your rev matching on down shifts and not rushing it into gear it wont go wrong!
i put mine on my old 1.2 16v with cable ties and they lasted 30k miles before i sold it, probably still on!
i usually use jubilee clips now if someone asks me to do one, they metal clips you get on them as standard are useless
few wee updates.
spraying the engine cover pearl black, waiting on another tin of paint to finish it off as i ran out so got that to do then the 2.0 16v sticker (cheers n2grafix) then lacqure before its finished, test fit today....
and again thanks to n2grafix for the RS172 sticker...
