its back to the same thing though straight line no you wont but on your average uk road yes you will, i beleive a certain scottish member commenting on how hard he was working his 197 to keep up with me on the st andrews meet!
spec wise a 100 and 80 are much the same, if your asking about the technical side then yes their are a few differences mechanically but as far as driving comes into it the 100 you get the better gearbox, their is people who say its crap, it just takes getting used to, if youve driven a mk3 clio...
the problem with a 100 is if you find one you need to take what ever colour and spec you can get although same can be said for the 80 but not as extreme i was just lucky i got black with climate, electric sunroof and cd changer which is what i wanted
if you can find a 100 then they are deffo worth the extra premium, 80 is a nice compromise though, 100 is a lot better to drive though due to the 4th engine mount and hydraulic clutch
no its not an issue you service it, it wont happen. in the same way the cambelt on a 172/182 isnt a weak point, however muppets dont change them and look how many storys you hear about them snapping...
if you understood how an engine worked you would realise that but clearly you dont since you...
reliability issues with 1.9 and 2.2dci engines, 1.5's are fine apart from the odd fuel pump/injector as with all comon rail diesels regardless of manufacturer. tuning a car is never the best way to get maximum reliability regardless of it running on petrol, diesel, having a turbo, being a...
just for the record my mate bought a 106 rallye with loads of bits n bobs done to it and i bought my ph1 and i think he sometimes wishes he had got the ph1, however he is still very happy with his car, i think what ever you get you will probably wish you got the other! saxo/106 is more nimble...
yeah the vag cars seem to be fine with big power hikes!
my old 172 made 173bhp standard and my new one isnt a million miles away from it but yeah 150bhp dci would be a match for one anyway, they wont do the same top speed though unless you can get a 6th cog on it!
yeah injectors on the 80/100 cant really do much more than 135bhp max and clutch wont really deal with over 200lbft.
citroen C3 HDi injectors can be used to make a 'hybrid' set of injectors and uprated clutches can be used although non readily available so its a custom job, my clutch is...
ideal for day to day driving when you cant be bothered putting in any effort driving quick, i just sink the boot in 5th gear from 40mph and your pulling back in from an overtake at 110+ still in the same gear, ideal for lazy people lol
its just torque and a different power delivery, my mate has a remapped fabia VRS which felt twice as quick as my 172 did, turned out their wasnt anything in it the 172 just edged forward a bit
i didnt do mine on my old car and it was coming up for 7yrs and 50k but its just a gamble you take, some phase 1s out there are on original belts at 10yrs old and others snap their belts before they are due its just a gamble really, we had a mk3 1.2 16v that snapped a belt at 2yrs and 60k
had my mk2 172 for over 2 years since i was 18 then sold it as i felt it was time for a change, cut about in the dci for 6 months, got bored and bought the ph1 and im actually even happier with it than i was with my first one even although this one cost quarter of the price and isnt as clean and...
lol @ people saying your mechanic pal will balls it up, people dont get them timed properly as they dont use the proper tools for the engine, if your buying him the tools it will be fine, its only a cambelt ffs your not asking him to give you a heart transplant!
the dci 80 intercooler is a big square one it goes from the bottom of the radiator to the top of the radiator and about half of the width of the grill, most of it gets covered by the bumper tho so its not as efficient as the 100 intercooler which is a long thin one that goes across the bottom of...
