yeah spoke to alan a few times about the change but i always end up chickening out!!
most of my mates have japanese busses running 300-400bhp which i cant afford to run so it needs to have a good chassis to help keep up, just worried the 197 wouldnt be as quick, what sort of torque do they...
its a brand spanker so doubt they're going to let me take it out, ill give them a phone monday morning see what they say!
nimbus with the black rubbing strips and black mirrors, black wheels. looks the tits!
only other thing thats getting my mind going is 14k, my mate paid less than that for...
been into arnold clark stirling and saw a brand new 197 cup in nimbus and cant stop thinking about changing the 172 for it, only thing im worried about is how its going to be compaired to my 172 struggling to find anywhere with a demonstrator to try one and im not a fan of the 200
so whos...
double check the gearbox code but i think it will be the same 5 speed box used in the MK2 DCi 100 clios, rated to 200nm torque. will take more than that though if used carefully!
disagree to be honest, i ran 188bhp at the scottish RR day on the same day standard 172s were running 160-170bhp and 182s running 170-180bhp, 225bhp focus ST ran 220bhp too
iirc a JC5 is oficially rated to 200nm which works out around 148lb/ft from memory? so in standard form the box is on its rated limit, although ive been comforably running 160lb/ft for 2 years and people are running way more than that on them.
torque will kill them not bhp, regular oil changes...
its been a while since ive been under one but if you have a 1.2 16v like your pic then the exhaust shouldnt be touching the subframe unless they have changed it?
im not going to give you the old driving like a c**k thing, becase we all do it, f**k i had the back end squirm under braking at 140 the other day when i hit a weird bump in the surface (of course i was lucky to be on a race track at the time n all that ;) ) i was lucky you were not, it happens...
was a really decent day because we got the weather, i think i was the only f**kin car that managed to get stuck on a warm dry day in the field! only bit of mud and i end up in it.
turns out traction control is no substitute for 4wd  ha
ohh yes i can feel a project coming on lol got a mk3 with a cambelt failure. since they are slightly bigger anyone know if an F4Rt with the 6 speed box will fit in the bay?
i bought my 2001 51 plate for £1800 dci 65!
give it a good service mate they like regular oil changes, i did mine every 5k on mine. use genuine oil filters. change the glowplugs and air filter (i used a K&N for the sake of being able to wash it and refit)
imo they dont run well on vpower...
the 1.2s are terrible for fuel economy imo, dont understand why people buy them over a dci model drive so much better too. our driving school one averages 42mpg around town with learners! my mrs gets not far from that around town in my 172! dci would be getting mid 60's at least!
my mate swears by them on his evo.
greenstuffs fine for fast road use, mine have no problem scrubbing off speed from 145+ never tried them on track though!
only thing you can save when doing the 1.6 conversion over the 2.0 conversion is changing the front brakes, 1.6 uses the same brakes as the 1.2 16v. you still need to change engine, box, steering rack, ecu, uch etc its a pain in the arse and id rather spend the extra couple hundred quid on the...
