Since when did the Focus not have a good chassis? Have I misread something? The Focus of that era was considered to be fantastic and certainly the best of the cars on that platform. I'm sure the MPS can be made very good with some thought.
I think white vinyl on the car would look awful. If it was a race car maybe, but I wouldn't do it on a road car. I think white body work details on a road car instantly make it look like it's worth about 50p
The colour is a tough call. Definitely not gold. White could look brilliant or awful. I'm unsure but it will be interesting to see. Silver or anthracite are safe but both will look good.
Great report. Sounds like a tough event, but at least you got to the end. As you say, club rallies are a very different ballgame now. Sequential boxes and powerful engines everywhere. The class system here is a bit silly though. I think it's about time every class was split in half. One half for...
Engine bay looks great. Should go nicely with that engine in it too. The problem is, the more threads like this I read, the more I want to do it to mine 😂
Excellent read, very enjoyable. The car looks excellent with the yellow wrap too. I think I would say that though. As you can tell from my avatar, I like yellow lol. I hope you have a better 2017 anyway. Will follow this with interest!
Oh I spent ages doing that too lol. You should get a reasonable mileage 250 for your budget. Worth keeping an eye on forums and the like. It's definitely something I would consider if I was in your position. They have a bit more equipment than the Clio as standard I would think, so would be a...
I'd probably just stump up the extra for an ST-3 myself. Prices are only going one way. With so many around, a bit of haggling would see you in one quite cheaply I imagine.
My bad, perhaps wasn't very clear. As you say, seems pretty easy to find plenty of ST-2 and ST-3s to choose from.
I was referring to the Meganes. Took me bloody ages to find one with the right bits.
Yeah the engines seem to take the miles pretty well and, provided you keep on top of the suspension, there's no reason it shouldn't give you years of fun if you want it.
Bit more power and a short shift is meant to do wonders for them too.
Yeah, ET65 as standard. You seem to be able to get away with as low as ET40 pretty much though, so plenty of wheel arch clearance, it's just the potential negatives on the way it drives.
I have wondered what the Mazda RX-8 PZ wheels would look like on a Megane but never seen any pictures!
What wheels are they? I've been thinking about the options for my Meg. Some of the nicest ones are so expensive, can't justify that. Those look nice though.
That looks really great, especially given the mileage. You'd never think it had nearly 100k on it judging by the pictures! Great car for the money.
There is a short shift mod you can do on some MK2 RS models, but I don't know if it can be done to the R26. Have a look on www.rsmegane.com, you...
Thanks for the info, useful to know. Seems to be a decent supply of these wheels in the Subaru/Evo rally world. I was always put off the Subaru ones due to the centre bore but not an expensive fix by the sounds of it.
I was about to ask about machining costs, but you have answered already! Is the £25 just to have the centre bore altered, or to skim the mounting face too? I have wondered about trying to get a set like this in 18" for my Megane. Think they would really suit it.
Fiesta ST is a bit of a bargain I think. Their popularity has meant they can be had for very good money. I'd definitely consider one. Would have to be an ST-3 for me though. If it's a daily, I'd want maximum equipment.
