Interesting to hear you say that too. The Golf is an absolute weapon for a production car but, in terms if driving engagement, I'm with you, it leaves a lot to be desired. Could say that about most modern cars though I guess.

Yeah absolutely. Had a go in an Escort rally car with a sequential box a couple of years ago, just a totally different experience to my car. A "proper" car just feels entirely different, just so focused.

Turbo will likely give you more power if that's what you're bothered about. It would probably be more useable on the road too, as you should have a nice versatile torque spread if it's done properly.
