6 hours labour to fit the cambelt, without any valves to replace etc etc.
Cheapo timing belt kit is about £120 with the tensioners etc.
As said earlier, its £450 to replace the cambelt as a precaution with no known problems.
I've been buying from Tim @ CleanYourCar for about 4 years now and I've never had a problem.
Also use Mat @ i4detailing quite a bit and his service is also top notch.
I have the Porter Cable 7424 Dual Action and the 3M Rotary.
The PC is good, but god the 3m is superb.
For me, really good...

No worries..
An ever present in the detailing gear is Zymol Autowash - the one you can get for about £7 from Halfords - I like that too.
But strangely enough, a culmination of events has turned me back to an oldie.
Prior to going on holiday a few weeks ago, the car had been fully, and I mean...
Jimbo
The Autosmart Duet is a very good shampoo.
It has gloss enhancers to add a really nice slick smooth finish to the paintwork, like a q.d all in one.
Only downside is you have to use quite a bit, but iirc the mixture has just been re-worked to be a bit stronger, so you use less per wash...
The difference between the Renault stuff and Silkolene Pro-S 5w40 when I changed at service time was very noticeable.
Silky smooth in the 172, though I had the cambelt changed and timing checked at same time, so everythint cobbled together made a big difference.
Have just had the 182 serviced...
More fool me, should have come over to you Fred. My bad.
One day I will learn that to truly appreciate convenience is to get the job done correctly, by experienced trustworthy individuals, once and for all.
Thing is, i have a very good relationship with Honda [where I have my Type R...
Back to this again.
Had the day off work again today, car booked in a week or so ago, took it down to get this sorted out before the school hols.
Picked it up and both n/s and f/s axial joint linkages had been replaced. Think from what I can see this is what Renault refer to as the track rods...
Is this not the regulation of the acoustic valve upon starting?
I was under the impression that the valve letting [some] air into the engine remains closed at cold engine temps, then opens when the engine is warm?
Either way, I had poor starting on my 172 when I had it, not the end of the...
Quite true.
Nice and thin.
That said I've just done around 550 miles this week up and down the country, motorways, fast A & B roads wearing the following on my silver Type R.
2 x coats of Jeffs Werkstatt Acrylic Jett Trigger [sealant]
1 x coat of Raceglaze '55' Wax [55% carnauba wax]
The car...
Victoria Concours Red Wax.
You could go over the car before with PB Black Hole - it is a filler heavy glaze which should mask fine swirls. Waxing over the top will give you a nice deep wet finish and plenty of protection from the elements.:D
You Monaco boys wont regret it.
I had a Monaco 172 for almost 3 years, a couple of years ago now, and I machine polished that and the difference was night and day.
The RB182 has yet to be done, but I'll sort it over the next month when I have a couple of days off.
Give us a head up when you...
The Autoglym Foam and the hi-tech cleaning pad are pretty good used correctly.

Check out my thread above.
Just dont wet your seats too much. Thats where you get the drying marks from.
Went into renault today to havea service and the outer cv boot replaced [pinhole in it] and when I picked it up they hadnt done it because they said the inner cv boot was leaking and upon removing both said the driveshaft needs replacing.
Thing is, they quoted me and after a little discussion...
And I didnt realise the service intervals on the 182 were 12k miles or 24 months. (could have waited another 3k miles:rolleyes:)
172 was every 12months, though it does short(ish) journeys, so the 12 months I'm happy with tbh.
Fresh oil etc. Just need to pop a new air filter in as they didnt...
Just been serviced at Renault.
Got a decent price of £130 all in.
CV Boot didnt get replaced because the inner cv boot is leaking and once all apart they have said a new n/s driveshaft is required.
Quoted me 'normal' price to start with and after a little haggling got it down to £135 fitted if...
Just check the website mate, you will find that TOTAL and ELF are exactly the same oil.
I think it is the TOTAL Quartz 9000 that it the same - worth checking, you can get hold of it in any TOTAL garage and the grade is 5w40 and it is fully synthetic of course.
I saw this car in the 'metal' just before it was finished and Jim had made a cracking job of it.
Andy, you car looks great now!
You'll be pleased to know I also have a Racing Blue 182 too!. :approve:
Washmitt, drying towel required for you now to keep it in THAT condition.
Cool.
