130 was shameful Jim, couldnt believe the pigtails when I saw it at the weekend. To say it had been repaired and then taken back to be 'improved' on by Sytner.
I am looking forward to your next report. ;)
Great write up, too many pics for my internetz to handle though. Remember that vxrmarc...
I wanted a standard 182 in racing blue, with cup packs.
Could not find one that was JUST the right condition, mileage, service history etc etc until I stumbled over the 182 Cup that was in the for sale section on here.
Went and had a look at it, it was spot on, just what I wanted, but alas no...
Spark plugs are not a 10 min job, there buried deep in the engine and like sideways danny says, you have to remove the coil pack, and inlet manifold before you can get to them, not to mention making sure you replace the gasket.
£50 for the plugs, but £25 or so to fit them, I agree still a rip...
I have the Beyerdynamic DT990's for hooking up to the separates system and Sennheiser CX400-ii in ear for the ipod.
Beats are crazily overpriced when you've picked up the above for £65 & £30 respectively.
Will be industrial fallout, minute particles of steel, are you near an industrial area or something?
You may be able to get rid of them by claying and polishing and making sure you put a good wax/sealant on your paintwork to try and stop them bonding on in the future.
If they are stubborn and...
Depends if you need abs and traction. You can turn the traction off on a 182 but I wouldn't be without abs. Would be fcuk all in it round a track or on a back road tbh and it would be down to the driver.
When the 172 driver has got hot and bothered though and crashes off the 182 will get past...
Not this old chestnut again Revels. :(
But against the 172 Cup the 182 Cup gains A/c and ABS and Traction Control
182 Cup is far more useable everyday.
The 182 Cup was as someone said earlier, a cheaper 182, albeit with a superior handling having the cup pack as standard.
You're part of the...
I use AutoSmart Duet/Duo wash and wax shampoo.
About £12 for 5 litres from your local AutoSmart rep if you haggle well.
Not strictly a wax in it as such, just gloss enhancers, but they do a great job and leave your car really really slik.
I find Megs Gold Class leaves the finish squeeky to the...
Looks good Stig, does it put a smile on your face? :approve:
Like it apart from the yellow, which it sounds like you have in hand.
Nice example, best colour etc. ;)
:)
Best looking car I've had to date. Attracts a lot of admiring glances when out.
Service in a couple of weeks time £135 at Renault and £150 of maintenance work should hopefully have everything 100% again.
Just weighing up whether or not to go the whole hog and give this a full machine polish over Easter.
It was done back end of last summer and tbh still looks swirl free.
Needs a bit of a clay at bottom of sills, but nothing major.
Might just hook machine up for sake of a couple of hours and go...
Cheers fellas. :approve:
Love this car. Yeah mrs doesnt grumble at all about me being outside cleaning it for hours on end. :o
She looks after it properly too, parks it away from the masses when out and about too to avoid dings.;)
I've gone down the route of stainless exhausts when I had the 172, and I regretted it, so this one stays! :approve:
Just the right balance tbh, and its the mrs's car, so getting mods on it is a no-no. ;)
Meguiars Endurance Tyre Gel
Apply with a foam pad - it can sling a bit when you start driving around if you put too much on, just try and let it dry overnight before going out in the car or you'll be wiping the sills and doors down when you get back in.
Its good stuff, and lasts ok.
I use the yellow SFX1 Sonus pads [cutting]
white SFX2 polishing pads
blue SFX3 finishing pads
I think they may be different colours now, but the SFX numbers are the same.
Took car into my Honda dealer on Saturday am to get some work priced up from them.
They said it was booked in for the MOT too!!!
I had been told by Renault that work needed doing so had 3 weeks to get it done before the current MOT expired, this was the reason for the visit.
Left it with...
On VW Paint i get great results with Menz Intensive Polish PO85 RD3.02
I think its now called PowerGloss or something, I have loads left in the garage so dont need to know the new name til I've run out lol
Finish off with Final Finish and its a cracking combo.
Black Hole is good quickly going over a panel at a time with the machinepolisher. Even without correct the paint with a proper polish first.
I have a black works van and couldnt be ar5ed in polishing the whole thing, so tried the bonnet and parked it in the sun to see how good a job it had...
Cheers Greg, a good start, I'll have to my eye on the D80 ;)
He'll be prime suspect if mine goes missing. :D
Must admit, his pics are better than the first time I tried panning with cars!!!
I will be getting mine serviced at Renault, just for the stamp in the book and receipt to keep it all FRSH, but for repairs I use my local Honda garage.
I trust them, I know they wont rob me, and they look after my Type R. Been using them for about 6yr now.
I wouldnt have any qualms about...
Some of my sons pics - he's only 9, so be gentle. ;)
I reckon he's done a good job. :approve:
