    When fitting cams...

takes a little time to circulate oil round an engine thats fresh, or hasn't run for a while. As said, cranking over until the oil warning light goes out before letting the engine fire does the job. fitting cams, just a dribble of oil over the lobes and journals is enough. When building up a...

    CV joint gone.... new driveshaft???

yes, i've fitted plenty of used shafts. Normally to the same cars, over and again until they buy a new one. Used parts will always have a much more limited life

    CV joint gone.... new driveshaft???

new shaft time. Genuine only. However renault are supplying reconditioned shafts again now so they're just under £150 rather than £250

Pi Lowering Springs or Eibach Sportlines?

I can do eibach too, infact i do fairly often, I personally like PI which is why i sell them. they're OK, silverlines are non adjustable and konigsport are adjustable damping IIRC (been a while since i've dealt with any) nothing remarkable, but i'd not find it easy to fault the quality for the money

When to stop spending, cam belt change 182

The dephaser is £171.11. I normally agree to change it for a nominal labour charge on top of the part if it becomes a problem within 6 months of a cambelt change. with 43k on the clock, unless the oil has never been changed on time, I'd be stunned if it became an issue

Rebuilding a 172 engine from scratch.

timing's easy to sort out of the car, wont take an hour even really. Prob worth fitting a new dephaser, especially as the engine has seen bottom end failure, suggesting an oil pressure issue. Head will need checking for possible damage from this also, I've seen a few heads written off by lack of...
