it's actually hard to say what is BEST. 30mm should be about right, but being really fussy and spending time experimenting with the distance (and mapping at the same time to see if there's imporvement) can get you nice extra torque, as the filter can work as a baffle
you need to leave room between the filter and trumpet. For a start it will rub through the filter if you dont, secondly, ITB Trumpets take air primarily from the side not the front, which is why individual socks aren't great
Just ordered these

less than a tenner for pattern part, about £23 from renault IIRC
3 bolts and a bit of a coolant top up and bleed. half hours inc getting it up to temperature to check function

Thermostat. I think more cars than is realised need this changing. It takes ages for a properly functioning thermostat to open, most open within a couple of minutes
no, Platinum.
NGK PFR6E are standard plugs without the renault badge and for a lot less cash
If you want to diagnose which cylinder is missing, it's quite easy, just pull off the injector plugs one at a time with the engine running, and if it makes no difference, you've narrowed down...
Fly by wire itself isn't the limitation, it's the ECU controlling it
421s work fantastic. My favourites in an F4R. You just have to man the f**k up and get a proper ECU
