    TURBO KIT (LOADS OF PICS)

I've fitted one of those, didn't last long. Changed it for a £70 (brand new) T70 which did 383bhp at the rear hubs (on a 1.8 ;) ) The T04E isn't great

    Engaged Clutch Squeek/Rattle

ah, someone else then. not much you can do but check that you have enough pedal travel for the cable to go slack....ie make sure you're not slipping the clutch very slightly all the time.

    mk1 poor rear braking

bleed the system and see if fluid comes through on the rears ok. Mine didn't at all and the valve was completely seized solid.

    Engaged Clutch Squeek/Rattle

yeah that's had it. IIRC you adapted valver clutch arm to take the 172 release bearing? I tried to make that work once and wasn't happy it was right.

    182+itb+421+dyno

best i've seen was 214bhp, and lots more midrange torque than 428s

    mk1 astra gte on ebay

mk1 GTE is cool. Not the kind of car that should be owned if you're not very competent with mechanicals yourself though. That's far too nice an example to be neglected and abused as a daily driver

    Timing out

sounds like it's been timed up wrong for sure. Not really surprised. Drop me a PM if you do want me to sort it for you :)

Big Bang and my oil was gone! :-(

talk to CAB and trading standards for advice. Think i already said that's's not the dealers fault IMO though, sorry :( should be able to get another engine all in and fitted for considerably less than Renault want to charge you though

I often just use private chat with a mate to not have the noise and annoyance of the open lobbys

Engine Help Needed Urgently ... Please

probably a loom fault. It's not just the ECU plug cover rubbing that causes problems, Got to get it on diagnostics really. It's possible it could be a manifold/airbox gasket leak

    3 new HTC handsets announced

can get it on orange through Carphone Warehouse. I almost did, but the insurance price took the piss, so i'm waiting for official orange release......sadly :(

    Throttle Position Sensor

ah that's lots simpler then. most likely pedal, throttle body, or a loom problem. Should be same throttle body as an F4R laguna. Small chance it's the ECU itself, but mush less likely
  20. S

    Throttle Position Sensor

is it the IDE? Pretty problematic. Quite a few faults that dont turn out to be what the fault codes suggest :( They have loom problems, faults with the VVT and EGR solenoids, and other seemingly random annoyances

    powerflex bushes

the inner ARB bushes are pretty unpleasant to change on the car, even on a ramp. Not impossible by any means, just a big fiddle

what does everyone make of Gas Flowed Heads?

ewww, nasty head. Not quite as bad as a nissan silvia though :dead: Truely terrible. Last one i did was for my own 205 gti

Is the anyone running group n engine mounts???

if there's more than very minor harshness increase, they're fitted wrong

what does everyone make of Gas Flowed Heads?

I did mean a bit harder than an old 8v or the like where much bigger gains ar normally more obviously found from poor castings. I know there's plenty you can do, just a bit less obvious to the un-trained eye ;)
  25. S

what does everyone make of Gas Flowed Heads?

I've done lots of head for customers. Normally as part of complete engine builds in honesty, but it's not that unusual. The thing is, the F4R is pretty decent to start with so it's a bit harder to find the gains. Peak numbers often dont change much, but if you look at the midrange you see a nice...

what does everyone make of Gas Flowed Heads?

biggest gain you'll see from headwork is torque really. Had a look over CNCheads stand at autosport and there was some nice work.....though i personally hated their F4R head design

    Working the Throttle body?

No real reason for there to be a lip like there is on the one pictured on the ph1/cable throttle body there's a lip on one side for a reason. Basically it's only opening on one side of the throttle plate to give finer throttle control at low end. By removing it you're essentially giving...
