exhaust made 0bhp difference on the throttle bodied 197.
Wouldn't unichip it. The stock ECU doesn't work perfectly with piggyback systems, it adapts and reverts
worth hooking up an oil pressure gauge to see if there's anything unusual there.
Should be able to tell if it's VVT related by unplugging the solenoid and seeing if that changes where/when the noise occurs. Noise is normally when it's off, so if it's still noisy after the switch point with it...
less total lift than any of the catcams (even 420s which are near standard), but there's no lift at TDC figures so it's hard to compare.
Worst case if you leave it, you'l wear the cams out, fill the engine with swarf, ruin the bearings and it'll go bang. Not everso likely though
I've fitted them in a turbo engine intended to run 2bar of boost, to reduce the worry of blow-by. Wouldn't bother on N/A personally, especially if there's no issue to start with. Disturbing it will cause problems not solve them
Your cams are re-grinds I understand. Could be that the lash adjusters (lifters) are now worn by running at their travel limit for a while and they've started to get noisy
sounds like it's hitting when the vvt switches. The cambelts don't jump teeth, but when something causes an obstruction the pulleys can move as they're only a friction fit
the 307 xsi is a MUCH better car than the 206. OK it's a bigger car, but it's reasonably quick, and the handling is great. The 206 is an aweful car in every guise
