Need new suspension for track car, but which

Lol!! Thought I was going mad in my old age!! Go with the 9F and 8R mate. Then it’s all about seat time and getting to grips with the car and dialling it in to suit you. Drop wise I’d say the usual 60mm+ up front and 40/50mm rear. There’s ways and means of getting the rear lower though. Not...

I could swear I mentioned the BC option mate? They’re where I’d be spending my money if Ast’s weren’t within budget.

    K20 powered 172

Nah they don’t have the spacer mate. We didn’t have any spacers on the ones that @nath&alex made for our cars. @Jon-r87 twingo rear discs have a larger bearing, so you get better reliability. I could kill a pair of 1*2 rear wheel bearings on a trackday. Didn’t fancy that happening at the...

The everlasting ph1 ITB Build **GREEN-BUILD STARTS AT PAGE 100**

If you look at how the bush fits, you’ll see they’ve just copied the original rubber design. You need to cut the poly bushes to stop them overclamping the roll bar.

    Main end cap bolts

I just used some 14.9 cap head screws in my engine build. Reusable and if they do fail, that’ll be the least of your worries. Only cost £4 as well for a full set! Lol

197 upper inlet with 172 RS lower?

197 upper inlet with 172 RS lower?

You need to advance the 197 inlet cam to get the most out of it with a 182 dephaser pulley.

197 upper inlet with 172 RS lower?

The drilling’s for the oil feed are in the cylinder head mate, not the cam cover,so I’m afraid this won’t work. The 182 dephaser and solenoid will work in your current application.
  18. NorthloopCup

197 upper inlet with 172 RS lower?

The oil drillings for the vvt feed are in a different place on a 197, and from memory, the solenoid operates in a different way to suit. This means that you may need to alter the way the solenoid works to get the vvt working on/off. I’m going off memory from looking at stuff years ago now, so...

197 upper inlet with 172 RS lower?

You need to run a mappable ecu to run the fully variable cam timing that you get with the 197. It’ll just be on or off. Running a 197 dephaser requires the dephaser switching in a different way too.

@Nathan Evans how did the gripper feel in terms of lock up/harshness? And it’s amazing, the gripper has done more miles than the ‘other’ one, yet still not broken?! Whatsallthatabout?! ?

    group N cam timing

Yes you could mate, but it’s not quite as simple as that. You’d need other supporting items too. Your itb’s won’t fit on a mk3 head either. Nowhere near that much power is what it would make! Lol! Mine did 230 on maxi parts with not a lot of effort put into porting and polishing
  25. NorthloopCup

    group N cam timing

No mate. The 197 has a much better thought out cylinder head in comparison to the mk2. Substantially better in fact. The fact that mine made 230/181 whilst retaining the stock inlet shows how well it works with the right combination of parts. There’s no was a 1*2 would ever make these numbers on...
  26. NorthloopCup

    group N cam timing

No mate. They just look like a mass produced item, so there’s no quality there in comparison to the 182 item.
  27. NorthloopCup

    group N cam timing

Better cylinder head, higher comp, different cams and constantly variable inlet timing. Possibly a few other things, but they’re the main contender.
  28. NorthloopCup

    group N cam timing

All I’m going to say is, if you think toyosport manifolds are s**t, wait until you see a 197 manifold!! Trust me, the 182 manifold is far superior.
