PAS cooler / oil cooler ?

Yes that's it mate. Only on the return line. Also I'd run some decent pas fluid. That's one of the biggest killers of pas pumps and racks tbh. It's worthwhile changing the fluid regularly if your tracking it alot.

PAS cooler / oil cooler ?

You can buy water cooled pas fluid reservoirs. Expensive but they work! Failing that plumb a normal engine oil cooler in on the pas fluid return line. Got to be return line as it's not under any pressure.

    Maynard's 172 Track Car Project

Best compromise is to fit electric pas from a Saxo/106. 5-6 bhp gain from removing pas ain't worth it in my opinion. I've removed mine and refitted it on my cup track car.

    Maynard's 172 Track Car Project

To remove the PAS you need a link pipe that goes on the steering rack, fill the rack with oil and remove all the other PAS stuff. Simple really mate.

    Fletch's 150k 172 Project..

Check the earth points on the dash bar mate. There's 3 of them if i remember right and if they're loose they cause this sort of issue. Normally make the wipers move when you lock it up on the key fob! Bags o shite! lol

    172 Cup Track/Fast Road car.

Yes mate. Pm me your email address and i'll send them to you. I've bonded the door handles into the door cards as well, so the internal skin of the door can be cut out. All thats left to do with them is get them flocked to match my dash. I see your in Lincoln as well! My home town!! Parents...

    172 Cup Track/Fast Road car.

I made some door cards up out of 3mm black foamalux! I don't have opening windows as such because i'm using perspex, but on my trip to the 'Ring in july it wasn't bad at all. I've got a fully stripped and caged cup. The stereo was retained and i just mounted the original speakers in the door...

    172 Cup Track/Fast Road car.

A bit of electrical tape folded in half will sort the airbag light! You need to take the clocks apart to do it and slide it under the facia of the clocks. Easier than it sounds.

    Weird geometry... reasons?

Front camber at 1.5 degrees negative is the cause of your tyre wear on the outer edges mate i would say. For track you need to be at least 2.5 degrees negative - if not more, but if you use it on the road as well its more of a compromised setup you'd need. Regards the rear geometry i have a few...

    Clio Cup Race Car

Zetec coilpack should allow you to use the renault plug leads, whereas fiesta rs turbo one is different. The plug leads clip on to them. Easy to swap coilpacks with mappable management as long as the amount of wires going to the renault coilpack is the same as the Zetec one. 4 wires on the...

    Clio Cup Race Car

Zetec sensors rule!! The coilpacks are pretty good as well! Fiesta rst coilpacks are the best though. I use zetec crank sensors on a astra with mappable management. Never ever let me down.

Cr33do and Meek_Racing's track car project

Use a razor blade to remove the silicone/glue that held the headlining in place. Combine it with a heat gun and it comes off a doddle! Word of warning though, dont be tempted to pull it when its started coming off!! It WILL leave dents in your roof skin! Lol! Good old bacofoil reenaults!

    Track Car Nurburgring Toy

You will find a massive improvement from having it set up properly. Plus if you add a cage at some point that will improve the handling no end. Engine wise you may well be waiting a while for it to go pop! Unless you mistreat them they're a good little engine. Just a shame owners of more...

The day at cadwell is being run by javelin mate. Sure there will be last minute spaces. Agree with how good the clios feel on track! Devastates a hell of a lot more cars than people realise. Power wise it's standard really. Decent air feeds to standard airbox, itg panel and btb 2.5" stealth...

Lol yeah I know! I offered to take Jay Leno for a lap in the cup and he accepted! Funnily enough he wasn't about when I'd collected the car! Then the marshals had a hussy fit because I'd got no padding on the cage or a helmet! Managed to "make do" with some copper pipe lagging!! The evos are a...

Yes mate excellent weekend other than the oil on the track that I mentioned earlier. Saturday was the best day for me as the track was nice and quiet. Pulled some 8min 40 lap times on road tyres so very pleased. I stayed in a hotel just outside adenau. Nice and quiet to.

Yes most definitely! I've done in the region of 250 laps in various cars now. Shame it's getting so expensive now but I am considering a move to Germany. Lol! At first I thought I'd had a tyre off the rim with how it understeered. Girlfriend wasn't to impressed with it either! Lol

Kumho KU39s VS Hankook V12 evo VS Rainsport 2s?

I run Hankook S1 evo's and they are brilliant. They got me a 8:46 lap of the 'Ring as well with traffic, so not bad at all for a road tyre.

thoughts on PAS - would you loose it for a track car?

Its a bit heavy when your trying to park up but nothing that serious, plus if you've got buckets your sat closer to the wheel usually so it takes less effort as your arms aren't stretched out. If that makes sense??
  28. NorthloopCup

thoughts on PAS - would you loose it for a track car?

You need to keep fluid in a power steering rack as that is what lubricates it. My track cup has no pas and i've retained the standard rack, just filled with fluid and linked 2 ports.

    172 Cup - Modifications

I run KW V2's on a cup. Excellent bit of kit imo. Plus it helped me on to a 8:53 lap of the ring last summer in a otherwise standard cup. Return trip this summer in my track cup to set a better laptime.

Do a search mate. Its the solonoid that ticks. Mine does it on my road car. Personally i wouldn't bother replacing it tbh.
