Couple of years later, new rear gaz shocks, refurbished front ones, new rear beam bushes, new bearings in the front solid mounts, front lower arm bushes look OK, same the anti roll bar bushes. Refurbished front and rear calipers, and carriers, new discs and pads and the suspension still rattles...
For the climate control panel I just replaced it with another one. Some cars came out with panels without the sticky stuff and with the writings cast into the buttons instead of painted onto them so now they will not fade off or scrap! Found the panel cheap at a breakers yard and bought it...
Sort it. The new calipers were utter crap. Bought second hand Bosch originals, rebuild them with new sliders and pistons and now the hand brake is stronger than ever.
Advice: careful when buying aftermarket rear calipers! Especially if they are something like Kamoka or other cheap brand..
Update:
Fitted the TRW cables with 1450/1378mm stated lengths and they fit just nice.
But.... Go figure with brand new cables the handbrake is absolutely useless. If the car is stopped and I pull in the lever like an animal it barely stands still sort of.. But if I pull hard while moving even at...

Hi, I have to replace my cables also (especially the rear right one) and am curious about a few things:
There are two numbers around here for the cabe lenghts: 1480 and 1420mm
But I have a guy working at a large online store and asked him to verify this for me and he came up with these 2 OE...
17 years mega bump!
Hopefully now everybody's aware that a rear pad with 5mm of material on is far from worn out, they start at around 7-8mm thick new so.. Renault used to trick you into buying new pads for no reason - tricked me the first time too..
Ok so I sorted mine out couple of moments ago.
The problem with the missaligned motor shaft still persisted no matter how much I played with the climate panel temp buttons, it was basically 180 degrees out of sync.
So, according to what someone said here about the gears in the motor assembly...
Bump!
I have the same problem here, all fine and dandy until I took it apart, cable tied the broken part but it is heavily misaligned to the motor shaft. The broken thingy has a certain range of motion, so does the motor axle but they are out of alignment. I tried to sketch the issue bellow...
Bought a new front caliper along with flexi rubber hoses, will do a thorough re-bleed also.
Anything else that could cause a sticky caliper? wouldn't wanna ruin the new brembo max and Ds performance pads that I fitted..
The car is not too lowered, only about 25mm, as I'm really not a fan of slammed look so I prefer saving myself couple of hundred pounds for the roll center kit and invest somewhere else. It's a 15 yo car, there's plenty to do lol!
But will think about some stiffer springs, not to stiff though as...
Hi there,
After my last trackday I found this photo of me and while I do like the way it came out it looks like I might need stiffer springs, what do you think?
It's on GAZ GHA coilovers with std spring rates (275lb front and 225 or 250 -can't remember- rear). They are the new design with rear...
8 years bump!
I had the front calipers rebuilt with new pistons and seals, guide pins etc a year ago. Now the front left one is sticking. Pads are move freely in there so they re not stuck.
What else can cause a caliper to freeze? I heard that the brake lines can clog up or the abs pump can be...
Ok so next plan is to change the brake servo (found a second hand unit which seems ok), inspect the master cylinder (hopefully doesn't leak or smth as I haven't found a replacement so far) and then re-bleed the whole system including the ABS module an HOPEFULLY this time it'll be good ..
3 year bump!
What if I only want to swap the std 182 master cylinder to a 197/200 unit just because I really can't find the 182 item anymore?
Are the brakes gonna feel weird because of it being a larger diameter bore?
Is it really a straight swap? Meaning the fittings are the same, or the 182...
Ok so I kinda know how to take the dash out but what then? My display is showing messed up letters and numbers. The light is not dull so I guess it's not about the bulbs being at fault. What else then?
Update on this!
I found another way of cleaning these items.
For the door handles that come off pretty easy you could use the methods above. But for the upper dash trims or the steering wheel airbag or other difficult to get out items I found out that isopropyl alcohol works very good combined...
I got hands on a Scenic shifter, in which I also mounted the yanoo Stiff shift 3.0 kit.
One of the best mods you cand do to your linkage.
I dare to say that it's quite close to the PMS kit in feel (driven a car with that installed also), and the gear knob is definitely higher and closer to the...
Bump on this!
I had the exact problems that the OP had. Buttons working randomly and switching functions.
I had the brake pedal switch changed recently and it didn't help either.
Now the cruise control doesn't work at alll, pressing the dash button lights up the green light but the steering...
