yeah that's the damper adjusment nut.
looks pretty low that second pic although hard to tell from that angle.
from your memory, was it lower than this (judging from the gap):
as above really. avoid rear OEM shocks, my last set lasted 15-20k and then started to leak. front ones were ok though
don't know if 172 rear shocks have the same reputation, mine were 182 cup ones
don't know how they compare to the OEM renault ones but when I was on the original pads, after about 10 mins of spirited driving they begun to give up a bit.
take a pic of the nut, I'll help you but first let's make sure what we're talking about :)
thanks for taking that measurement for me. one more thing, if you have a side pic with your car with this suspension on would you be kind enough and post it? just curious how it stands
I'm at the point where I don't think coilovers offer that amount of adjustability without compromised handling- riding on the bump stops if too low for example
you can read my post if curious about my experience(this may be helpful)-...
get some wd40 on the adjusters and get them lower on the strut, you will de-compress the spring and there will be no need for the compressor.
And yes, you can get new springs from gaz or gaz suppliers. For the top mount you may heve to use some kind of extractors. I remember it was a pain for me...
lol I see that my case may have stumbled you :P
I still feel the need for a last cry for help
First question:
does that seem right?
that is a pic with the wheel off and the car in the air. you can see the travel available-85mm like I said before
this is the car still in the air with the wheel...
Hope that this post will help others, if the OP has decided already, so here it goes
Brand and model
GAZ GHA
Reason for purchase?
good price, I had no idea how Bilstein, AST, Spax are like so I really wanted something adjustable. I knew about their reputation mind you
Review of fitment...
My car is LHD since I'm outside UK and I'm gonna order some bits and pieces from k-tec.
They also have the genuine clutch kit for sale but is it the same for both LHD or RHD vehicles or there are 2 different parts?
thanks!
Re: My 172 Cup (T5MY G) FCS Pics!
one more thing: I'm curious what's the minimum travel that GAZ recommend on the front shocks- for example is it ok to have about 2,5 cm between the shock body and the bump stop?
I was in this situation and they advised to cut the bump stops without any other...
Re: My 172 Cup (T5MY G) FCS Pics!
I hope gaz will sort them up properly this time.
Funny how while I knew gaz had a bad reputation I still went for this kit; same thing with my milltek but none of them gave up so far. I can't understand how a product being assembled in the same place by the...
Re: My 172 Cup (T5MY G) FCS Pics!
yes they are, but they ride on biliies which probably have different length shock bodies and stuff
would be very helpful if you do take the pics mate
nice rims btw ;)
Re: My 172 Cup (T5MY G) FCS Pics!
wow that front end is low! can you take a look at my thread:
http://www.cliosport.net/forum/showthread.php?603059-What-s-your-ride-height-GAZ-GHA-owners
and maybe take some measurements next time you take a wheel off? in my experience if you go that low there...
what? I have the gaz gha kit plus eibach camber bolts and about 1,5 neg camber from the bolts
ontopic: yep these are very good mods. I'm sorry I rushed into buying the k-tec mounts couple of years ago and not going for the ast ones. not that the k-tec ones aren't good-they are but buy the ast...
Re: My 172 Cup (T5MY G) Gaz Coilovers/Ktec mounts & decat! Back in a clio :)
bloody bad luck! I just replaced the front bumper 3 weeks ago and 2 weeks after I find the car scraped on the bumper corner under the headlight all the way to the front left wing! idiots!
Just fitted the de-cat today, it's much quieter that I thought, maybe because of the center section and the fact that milltek systems have a deeper sound
I wanted it a bit louder but after thinking a while I'm pleased with it as it won't draw as much attention and wake up the whole...
