you might wanna check if you're hitting the bump stops, I know that those apex springs lower the car a few good cm, so you loose suspension travel aswell
if you want to get the wheels stick out more you have 2 options:
spacers
or
a wheel with a smaller offset. For example a clio 182 wheel is 16" in diameter and 7" wide with an offset of 45 (ET 45 that is). a clio 172 cup has an offset of ET 38, so this wheel will stick 7 mm out more.
The car in...
many in this thread have far greater experience with coilovers than poor me, could some of you guys take a look here http://www.cliosport.net/forum/showthread.php?603059-What-s-your-ride-height-GAZ-GHA-owners and perhaps tell me what's wrong?
thx!
ok this is a pain in the arse puzzle
I went to the garage and lifted the car on axle stands to get a clear view of the suspension. I will share a link towards an album containing the pictures along with description to every pic.
So,
before lifting the car I measured the distance between the...
meanwhile I found a old note of mine, in which the std ride height was written.
So it looks like I lowered the front 30 mm only..
Given the fact that now I have about 20 mm of travel left how on earth others go much lower? as it looks like the maximum lowering is 50 mm- sort of saying because...
there are coilover kits with built in camber adjustment, not sure how they work but I saw that the hole which carries the adjustment is oval. This is one of the reasons I went for gaz coilies an still using the camber bolts I had
If you can afford the k-tec ones go for it. Some will say that new OE ones are good enough but I don't think they're as good as a good quality solid mounts.
If you can stretch towards the £200 mark then the AST are the ones to have. they have castor/camber adjustment and they're top quality. If...
Hi there,
Just made some last (I hope!) adjustments to the car after fitting the gaz coils couple of days ago and I'm under the impression that I'm too low on the front, although I've seen here some silly low clio's
I'm having 32 cm from the center of the front wheel to the top of the wheel...
not sure how close to the mani my cable runs, as my car is LHD. What you are saying makes sense, but when mine creaks it sounds really close to the fork.
I just remembered that most renault services (or all of them I'm not sure) have a listening device, basically a metal pin connected to some...
ok but how come after I lube the fork pivot point and the fork/release bearing area (although that is a tricky spot to get to) the creak is gone for couple of days, even if hot outside?
I'm sure that changing the cable sorted the problem for some people but that's not always the cure
^ good idea, especially when I spent the entire saturday fitting the coilovers!
seriously speaking, I'm not gonna get back to standard, I so love the way the car corners now, even if they're the GAZ stuff that everyone hates
For a first coilover experience they are just right and for now I'll...
Just got my coils mounted and according to GAZ the adjuster knobs affects both bump and rebound.
If changing the springs to harder spec am I gonna have to send the shocks to gas to re-seal them?
Chances of them leaking will decrease if I keep them at a softer setting?
would be tricky If I had...
I keep doin' this with no success whatsoever lol
now this is something that It's gonna happen :))
I quite like the offset the ultras give, even if they were available in 45 offset I'd still keep them
I'm gonna have some 2118's one day this year hopefully. given the situation I'll probably...
Is there any cure to the rear arch scrubbing?
I've seen loads of clios lowered more than mine is atm so any suggestions on solving this?
p.s: this happened with 4 people inside the car, 2 of them being over the 100 kg mark
Fittet my coilovers today and did the bumper bracket too.
I've searched to find some pics of this mod, been told that many people just bend it out of the way but I never found some actual pics
Anyway, for those interested here's how I did it
removed the arch liner and twisted the bracket so it...
the real advantage is that they won't alter suspension geometry while cornering and are pretty much bullet proof. But yes, a rear ARB will make make a noticeable change in the car's behaviour. I'd still get the top mounts at some point. A good allround suspension setup isn't complete without...
