I really fancy doing one of the passes but it might not be a good idea for me as i noticed a week or so back that my handbrake cable if frayed where it goes into the rear caliper............this plus steep drop off's and near vertical handbrake starts might not be the best combination :(
Looking...
The £85 is just for diagnostics, you wouldn't need this unless there was something you felt was wrong with your car to begin with :).........i did it because my engine management light came on.
Oh right i see, no it wasn't me then, only two of us in my car :).......but i'm still puzzled as to why they decided to close the A43 down to one lane on one of the busiest days of the year :S....took 35 minutes to do the 10 minute treck back to the M1!
what were you driving?........i remember seeing a black 182 on the M1 and there was a black Megane on the A43 coming out of silverstone with an RS Tuning sticker in the passenger side window?
depends what you want really, the first time i went was to find a fault so that was the diagnostic with the laptop and at the same time Paul put it on the rollers to find it's power output and then the second and third trip were for mapping, my remap was about £350 including vat so i'm not sure...
I asked a mate of mine who's in laws own a guest house up there and he says there is a pub called the watermill inn which is in a village called ings, it's on the main road to windermere about two minutes out, he says it's quieter than the busy tourist pubs and is a nice place to eat, can't miss...
I had mine done again by Paul at RS Tuning last saturday after changing to V power, the gains were 2bhp and 3-4 lbs/ft of torque from the fuel alone, this was changing from total excellium to V power,
Total gains from the map were 8bhp and 8 lbs/ft of torque but the difference in the feel of...
I got 28mpg on a 300 mile round trip to silverstone from yorkshire two week ago, the trip computer said 31 mpg on the motorways but i must have had more fun off the motorway to bring the average down to 27 :)......i noticed the 182's are a lot more thirsty above 70 though, anything over that and...
When i sold my land rover the dealer wasn't bothered about the service history, even though it did have a glowing one :)............he said receipts are as good as a service history.
After the last one Matt and i did there was some interest from people saying they wanted to come so i thought i would put this up for those interested, i'll be going either way as i want to see the difference in my times since the new exhaust and remap was done.
Link to the pics from the last...
Yeah i have to say i'm happy with it now Mike, i'm not going to search around for any bits of extra power now, the difference from pre exhaust change to post mapping is phenomenal, it's like a totally new car to drive now so i'm smiling every time i drive it :)
One more update for this, i went back to see Paul today after i had run the 182 on V power for about 400 mile and these are the final RR prinouts, Paul got an extra 2bhp and 4 lbs/ft of torque from the fuel change alone by tweaking the advance i think he said.
Oh and thanks for turning up the...
Both Paul and parents have been spot on with me on both the repair work and tuning side, for people who say they are overpriced is a little unfair because if someone is good at what they do then they can charge more for it, it's the way the world works, i can honestly say my company charges more...
Re: Racing Blue (insert creative idea) Project Blog Diary Thread
It will look full on with the cage in Mike :).....nice name change too ;)
Will the cage be in for next weekend?
Matt that's not an A3 :rasp:
Nice car though mate, my old mk2 golf was tornado red too, wicked colour on a golf.
can't wait to see it at some meets but if you think i'm drag racing a mapped golf at york you can sod off......you made me look bad enough in the RB ;)
You would think so Mike but no it was definately 27mpg, i worked it out with my fuel receipts too, i have a heavy right foot at the best of times :)
Oh and just out of interest that works out at 54 litres or 4 litres over a full 182 tank, also i think i was getting 31.5 mpg on the motorway...
I never noticed a difference when i used it myself, i have no choice now as it's knackered but i didn't like it anyway, only really any use when on an empty motorway otherwise i found i was constantly having to adjust it to suit the traffic flow, i prefer to keep full control myself, as for mpg...
This is what he means, it is a really good free mod if you like induction noise and i'm sure any losses in cool air intake are made up for by having less friction heated air passing through the small bendy CAF pipe and acoustic valve, plus it is at the front which generally takes in cold air...
