Got those on my MK1. I know that Craggy doesnt like them in the wet on his VTS, but I think theyre great. Really suit the MK1. And in my opinion, absolutely fine in the wet.

My Williams lost lots of power when the cat broke. There was a chunk of the material stuck in the exhaust system and it strangled it. My cat had rattled for a week or two first. Just get a de-cat for now. Worth it on a Williams.

I use Halfords fully synthetic. Just changed it after 3000 miles. The car runs absolutely fine. Used expensive oil in the past and I cant tell a difference. If anything, the Williams felt less tractor like with the Halfords than will big brand oils.

I would go to York, but theres no point thrashing the car to get 0.001 seconds off the time. Sorting a de-cat out but wont be ready for Sunday. Will try again once its fitted, but with interior in. Reckon I can scrape a 14.8.

Try and get a 2nd hand one. Its only accurate if used on a totally flat road, with no bumps as it works by sensing accelerative and braking g-forces. Bumps and changes in incline WILL throw it out. It also takes a fair bit of calibrating if you want good results. Having said that, I tried mine...

And, if youre looking at the engine in a car, its got a different exhaust manifold to the 1.8 F7P engine. The Williams manifold looks a bit weedy and tubular, whereas the Valvers engine has a big feck off cast looking manifold. Sure someone else could elaborate better...

aaron - are those not figures for a valver with a decat? That does make a difference you know! Not saying that standard valvers arent quick, but most valvers are now modded to some degree. A totally standard 172 with full interior and full tank of petrol can do a 1/4 mile in 15.1/15.2 seconds...

Ive found the more modern speedos on Clios to be pretty accurate using GPS. The three MK1 Clios that Ive tested (1.4 RT, 1.8 RSi and 2.0 Williams) have all been over reading by approx. 2.5mph at any speed (rather than a % out). The 4 MK2 Clios that Ive tested (1.6 16v, mk1 172, mk2 172, Cup)...

I think 6.6 seconds is a fair average time for a 172 to 60mph (not 62!)
