Have you removed the back seats / seatbelt equiptment / spare wheel / toolkit / boot carpet / parcel shelf / carpets etc. yet? You might as well dump that sort of stuff first. Will definitely make the car quicker.
It wont be until next year (just bought a 172 remember!), but both Ellen and myself drove it and were both hooked and want one.
And that gear change is stunning. It needs to be to keep it in the v-tec, but its just sooo short. Snick....snick.....snick.....yum.
What colour did you get? Got to...
Erm, not sure to be honest. I used a small electric drill / screwdriver with adjustable speed. After youve finished with the wet&dry you put cutting paste on the mop and use it to bring the shine. Its very effective and probably worth polishing the area with the mop/drill before attempting any...
You can order a new Cup with air-con now, so your problems might be solved...
Oh yeah, and given the choice between a Cup and a 172, Id probably go for.....a Civic Type-R
<runs>
lol, stop arguing! The bloody things are nearly the same car with just a few minor factory set up differences. If a 172 driver cant get round a track as quick as a Cup driver, then go and spend a hundred quid on suspension and ditch the spare wheel.
Put the Williams to standard to sell. I wouldnt have gone near a modded Williams when I was looking for one. Most people seem to be after lowish mileage, totally standard cars.
Having seen the amount of people after quad lights for the Willy/Valver, I think your best bet would def. be to sell...
Brun - how well it works depends on the scratch or chip you are taking out and how careful you are. I was really impressed with how well it removed the key scratch on the bonnet, but the paint on the boot was thinner and it was much more difficult to sand the scratch out.
You basically use...
Mine were ordered yesterday at 1pm and I got them this morning. They just told me that theyd have them in the next day. Im going to get some more tomorrow. Want a couple?
kdf - im ordering more tomorrow. So cheap, so many possibilities! The yellow thing just comes down to personal preference. I prefer where youve put your badge. Mines fractionally too far to the left :@
Yeah, the yellow will go on the blue well.
Paddy - you can barely see it from further back. Ill take some more when i remember to get batteries for the digital camera.
Idea thoroughly nicked from _KDF....but sprayed silver as the yellow didnt look right on the silver background. A b*****d to get on, too. Really bloody fiddly and all the numbers are a slightly different size, so had to spend some time re-positioning them...
Not keen on having yellow on a silver car with silver badges, so Ive sprayed the 172 badge in BMW Arctic Silver Metallic (its the closest to titanium that halfords had in stock). A bit blurry but you get the idea. Just waiting for it to dry first as Ive already arsed up one badge :@...
MK1 has a slightly longer gearing. Cant remember all of them, but 4th gear in the mk1 does 121mph and in the mk2 does about 111mph. The shorter gearing makes up for the extra weight I guess. I want a mk2 gearbox in my mk1.
At the RR day, both out 172s had similar mileage. Paddys thrashed from...
Edde - the output seems to vary alot on 172s. At a RR day last year my old MK2 172 put out mailto:136bhp@wheels">136bhp@wheels / approx. mailto:156@fly">156@fly and an identical 172 MK2 on the same day put out mailto:152bhp@wheels">152bhp@wheels / approx. mailto:174bhp@fly">174bhp@fly. So some...
