I like to time with a passenger because I seem to remember seeing something about manufacturers taking their timing with something like a half tank of petrol, a passenger and 20kg of luggage. If I can manage 18.5 to 100mph with passenger then I know the car is doing alright and its a pretty...
Just personal experience for me. To be more precise, I should say that the Williams is more forgiving than the 172. In the 172 that I had, I span it once and had a few scary understeer moments when pushing it/driving beyond my capabilities.
The Williams turns into corners better than the 172...
Someone will no doubt correct me if Im wrong, but the odds of Renault actually paying out under this warranty is slim. I think you have to have any bodywork defects repaired by Renault (like chips and scratches) to keep it.
Would be interested to hear more info on this though. Over to you...
Cant get near the 16s in my Williams. Using a tilt factor of .11 and with CooperS Boy as a passenger I managed to get 18.5 seconds twice on a very flat and very smooth piece of road. That was with the car totally standard. Out of interest I changed the tilt setting to 0.5 and did a couple of...
Yeah, as someone mentioned the 172 is a bit quicker to 60mph and a bit quicker again to 100mph. Still managed to give Paddy a decent run around the Peak Disctrict after the RR day (even though there was too much traffic for any real fun :().
Standard 172 vs Standard Williams in a straight line...
Actually, if you squint a bit and ignore the bottom bumper thing, it looks alot like a 106 (with mirrors that have mysteriously squished in to the body).
Just looking at some AP22 data now. My Williams does it (totally std) in 6.5 seconds.
One off run from a Cup - 5.79 seconds
One off AP22 run from a Hartge Cooper S - 5.75 seconds
Just look at the PGTi RR day in Bury from last year where the ATW figures for standard 172s ranged from 129bhp to 152bhp. Doesnt look too equal to me...
Mine got 136bhp on that day, by the way.
R2D2 - are you blind or on a major wind up mission? Ive already posted the 1/4 mile times that the "geezer in the Willy" got. They are impressive for a 150bhp 8 year old car. Your times were not impressive for a new 230bhp+ car. Oh yeah, a normal 172 will not paste a Willy. Weve tried it before...
Why? Its not a tractor. ;) Suit the car nicely. Not too showy, not too big, tasteful number of spokes, erm......silver.........round......yeah, like em.
Yeah, go to an online insurance place and go through getting a quote. Put the reg. in and itll pick up what car it is.
Try http://www.tescofinance.comwww.tescofinance.com or http://www.admiral.comwww.admiral.com and go through the quote process until it tells you.
A decat on a RSi wont do any harm (apart from to the environment, of course!). Probably a panel filter and a decat will make the RSi a bit nippier for very little money.
Youll kick their arse with that much in your favour. b******s. If they call it 16v on the ad, "Sport" on the receipt and there is a "16v Sport" 1.2 in existence, then its going to be obvious to Trading Standards what you wanted to buy and what they claimed to sell you.
