im suprised the gearbox broke on the VW! Mine crunched in 2nd, 3rd and when downshifting from 5th to 2nd for example even when going really slowly. It got worse too. They told me the selector was knackered, but replaced the whole gear box. I dont really understand, im only a muso....

I had a gearbox replaced under warranty through SMC Renault Woking, it took 2 and a half weeks for them to get a gearbox from FRANCE and then put it in! I wasnt very impressed.

"cccccccccccccccccrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrruuuunnnnchhhh, grrraaaaauuunch" was the noise that my wheel made as i decided it was a good idea to introduce it to a particularly high/diagonally facing kerb a couple of days ago. Not only is my front right hand alloy kerbed like someone whose been stomped...

the only bad side of it is when youre driving through town and the engine bay is real hot, launching off the line may be a bit boggy - so if youre racing someone off the lights, make sure you rush up to them and keep your clutch in and dont rev it at the lights!!!
If you have a mk.1 take both pipes off! it sounds amazing........ I estimate about a 50 bhp gain at 15,000 rpm for the pipe-detach mod (you floor it more than normal, therefore giving you more power, simple, *free* and easy mod) I discovered this when i was parked near my girlfriends house...
Hi Tim - after youve answered joes question, would you mind listing what mods youve done to your clio please? and how many miles youve clocked up etc. Ive seen the vid of your car at York and it sounded/looked amazing!

Maciek - yep, all tried and tested and prove to be very benificial, especially the non-clothed approach, i can beat everyone using that mod! (no one wants to drive anywhere near me!!!)
That 205 interior looks very similar to this rather tasty looking Lexus is200 that was at the Brooklands...
Must be a fly by wire issue? maybe you have a virus affecting the ecu arrg, kernel error.....
Or maybe its the same thing that 172 boy was saying: if mine says its up to temp but has only been running for 5-8 mins the rev limiter will come on early, about 6500/800, but once fully warmed it...

Sounds like some good plans. I dont think you should remove your rocker cover, that is unless you want loads of oil urinated all over your bonnet!
A few other things you can remove are:
- car jack
- passenger seat
- car speakers/stereo (unless you class that as a toy. (learn to sing)...
craggy - fair play. Even if i did run a miraculous low 1/4 mile time, i only take into account who wins in a direct race/roads etc. never been on a track as most people seem to be concerned with whose is faster on road etc. Winning off lights and in gear accleration on motorways etc overtaking...
