Hi shorty - i raced one off the lights a while back and he cheated and went on Orange (i only ever go on green; safety/fairness/legal etc) - so not really a comparison, but i did stay with him and if anything i caught up......
The 1.8 16v golfs are pretty quick mk.2s that is. My friend has an F-reg mk.2 16v and we race all the time - first gear is good, also so is second, but I always win. He has a lightened flywheel and balanced clutch and a short-block engine(?) tuned by BRM motorsport(??)

Maybe he had less fuel in his tank? or maybe he did much better full throttle gear changes?
Do an oil change: on gran turismo 2 you lose about 30 bhp with dirty oil!

Yeah and keep your accelerator down through gear changes.....that is if you dont care about your clutch! knocks loads of time off your gear change tho and you can get ahead!

I previously had LOADS of problems just like youre describing: that was with my old scirocco. I used to run it low on fuel (weighs less!) and yep, you guessed it, it sucked up all the crap from the bottom of the tank. This included rust! all into the carb and the jets etc. It was so bad that...
Sorry about your luck mrCCC. I had a similar thing happen - I was waiting at a junction before going to work, there was a car in front (peugeot 205 splash or something) and a space appeared so he started to go, and a car mustve come around the corner quickly and he slammed his brakes on and...
I beat a bug-eyed Y-reg WRX a while back in gear acceleration up a slip road - overtaking him at around 115-120 mph+ (abandoned airstrip of course). My friend waved as we over took to add insult to injury and he could not believe his eyes. A friend of mine met him and he mentioned the race and...

my friend has an extremely good condition miami blue 1.9 gti 205 and hes had the flywheel lightened and balanced, and gas flowed - its pretty quick even with those mods.
Mk.1 Clio 172
Engine - 21,000 miles, optimax (+20bhp), used to have group N ECU now for sale, sometimes pipes removed for noice induction sound.
Gearbox - replaced, new one going through knackered conversion at the moment.
Exterior - washed yesterday, 2 new windscreens (lightened 50kg)...

How can you guage how a car handles better? unless you do a head-to-head race and even then the drivers will be different! this argument is stupid. In most cases (races) the car with the most power wins. Who cares about track driving? I cant afford to take mine onto a track and destroy my...
Ive raced integra type Rs a few times. If you want the real out come it goes like this: he couldnt pull away from me at all, in fact he decided to overtake a load of people dangerously on the wrong side of the road, wrong side of some bollards and i decided that he was actually a nutter and...
I was wondering where the captain had gone. Hope he returns soon, possibly a controversial (I think-> funny) bloke to some, but to most an invaluable asset to tech and more importantly clio advise, as is benR etc.
