    PH1 VS P2?!

Ph1 looks great until you scroll down and see the Ph2. Probably one of the cleverest facelifts on a car ever IMO. It just looks so good even today. I like the P1 172 looks with the xenons but they (all Phase 1s) have a slight "gormless" look to them.

buyin a 172 ph2 or 182 anyhting to look out for?

I think he means as the car has a wheel well to actually carry one rather than the wheel itself! Yes you can put a spare in a 182 but it's a bit of a pain having a wheel in your boot taking up a lot of space.

    ***How much is it worth?***

Re: 182 Prices at the moment selling mine soon HELP NEED ADVICE I understand depreciation but the ClioSports appear to be suffering heavier depreciation than any other Clio. You also appear to be on a one-man crusade to rubbish the value of your own car lol What's the obsession "with...

    ***How much is it worth?***

Re: 182 Prices at the moment selling mine soon HELP NEED ADVICE Didn't spot the full Renault Warranty - that is a huge attraction; £7.5k wouldn't be too much to ask as you don't give anything away to buying through a dealer because you can literally give a warranty with the car potentially...

    ***How much is it worth?***

Re: 182 Prices at the moment selling mine soon HELP NEED ADVICE There's a big majority on here that would take great delight in telling you this car is worthless! People see some sell for well under £5k and assume the rest are only worth that. Sellers are probably also depserate to sell at the...

That's the colour; Cyclone Blue (except to my eyes it's Green!). Had the 15" five spoke alloys on it, front fogs, deeper bumper/splitter perhaps? etc

clio extreme 1.2 16v buying guide

My girlfriend had a 1.2 16v Extreme for about 4 years in that greeny/blue colour. It was a 52-reg but don't know what version it was; apart from air-con I would say it was good spec - it def had speakers in the back. It had the colour-coded contrasting seats with the green/blue aluminium dash...

I Just Got an Immense Deal On A 182

Re: I Just Got a Emense Deal On A 182 There's two Phase 1 172 on 'Trader, one with 83k @ £2350 and another with 34k @ £3450. Whether one or both are optimistic or not who knows but that was just a quick look!

I Just Got an Immense Deal On A 182

Re: I Just Got a Emense Deal On A 182 Nonsense, double the mileage saves only a few hundred?? More like £1000. Most likely if you think the 80k+ milers will be worth £2k then the low miler will be worth £3k. And I'm a high mileage fan! but that's just the nature of cars - people (especially...

I Just Got an Immense Deal On A 182

Re: I Just Got a Emense Deal On A 182 Exactly, in 3/4/5 years time when most are approaching 70k, even with average miles this car will still be under 40k (if low/med use it could be mid 20s easily) and will be the car people will be more likely to buy and probably pay more than the cost...

I Just Got an Immense Deal On A 182

Re: I Just Got a Emense Deal On A 182 Works out at just over 2000miles/year. Could have been a weekend car that was used for decent runs who knows. The condition of the car would probably give clues to this. I've never known a forum like this one :D it's too cheap, it's too expensive...

I Just Got an Immense Deal On A 182

Re: I Just Got a Emense Deal On A 182 Does it eck. It has only got 9000miles on it which will always carry a premium, it's barely a years average milage plus it was bought from a trader/dealer so it was good price IMO. Cars cost money to run, this is a fact! so belts and servicing are to...

how do you know when spark plugs need changing?

If they plugs have done some mileage (50,000+ or less if you're picky) just change them as a matter of course. The test described above isn't very accurate to determine their condition, it's a good test to check that cylinder's/HT cable for a working spark/ignition circuit though. The plug may...

Pulls to the left when breaking hard

If your car pulls under braking then it will most likely be the brakes at fault. Worn suspension components don't exactly help but they don't tend to cause a pulling under braking (usually easier to test for faulty suspension bushes under power). What's the braking balance like? a quick test...

    changing 182 front indicator bulbs

It's good enough for my M Coupe hehe How about these http://www.solware.co.uk/customise-car-part-accessories/car-indicator-bulbs.shtml. Seem a lot cheaper than the Phillips ones.

    changing 182 front indicator bulbs

Has anyone tried the cheaper way to silvervision bulbs by spray painting a thin coating of silver paint on the bulb? :clown: it works and is something I've done to previous BMWs I've had. One light coat takes away most of the orange tinge without affecting light output (or the orangeyness of it).

Piece of sh1t 182 wont start!!!!!

Prob cos that's where people go to find info. People are far less likely to start "my car's running fine" threads :p Glad to hear it's fixed though!

    Ever traded your car in?

I would normally say the same but if you can get a good deal they can save a lot of hassle. I bought a 182 for less than some of the higher end private sellers were asking and I got 18 months warranty with a Renault dealer too, trading in a 1.2 16v for what I'd want for it selling privately.

    Ever traded your car in?

The last bit is a bit underhand, don't forget their's ultimately going to be a new buyer of this car after it's sold/traded in. Just scrap the alloy - it doesn't look good to see a mangled wheel in boot even if the car is fixed.

    Ever traded your car in?

Yep agreed, we got a good offer for a 52-reg 1.2 16v Extreme on trade-in that I would have been happy to sell the car privately at. Although another dealer varied by nearly £1000!! (£1400 vs £2350). Takes the hassle out of paying to advertised on Trader etc and having no views or general hassle...

golf mk2 gti vs clio 172

Mk2 Golf GTi is NOT heavy car, it's a myth people think they are because they're a "Volkswagen". Weight is around 980kg, less than the Clio and about the same as other hatches of the time (309GTi, Astra GTE etc), that's why they are quick for their power. Even with 140bhp it'll still only be...

    cheapest f1's on net?

I've never found blackcircles to be the cheapest for mail order. Have always used www.Camskill.co.uk or www.Mytyres.co.uk, the former is usually always next day delivery even when ordering up to 4pm.

    Aftermarket steering wheel

Recommended (have to?) disconnect the battery for a bit beforehand. 3.3ohm (not 3.3kohm) seems to work with fooling airbag module that the airbag is there in most makes of car.
