difference between 182 cup and normal 182

I thought that - kind of makes a mockery of loads of threads where people say a non-Cupped 182 is pointless if it's just a 172 but newer!!

difference between 182 cup and normal 182

A question I've tried to ask a couple of times without answer is (and I think it's kind of relevant); what is the difference suspension-wise between a regular 172 and a 182 (without cup packs)?

    mintex vs EBC

I use EBC Yellowstuff in my M Coupe (previously used DS2500 - awful) and they're great pads, no fade and little dust. Also in my 205GTi on track (previously used DS3000 - superb bite was diffiuclt to modulate locking, and brake dust was toxic) and prefer the Yellows. Work from cold, better when...

    topical topic - winter tyres.

Only in certain [high alt.] areas AFAIK and is likely a case whereby if you're on the wrong tyre in the snowy conditions then you're liable to be fined/prosecuted (there's no period of dates that specify when winter tyres must be fitted). Most of Europe has a milder climate than ours!!

    topical topic - winter tyres.

I dont think anywhere is Europe has a winter tyre law, there might be recommendations to use them but no specific laws as few European countries have a winter like Scandinavians ones where all 3 do have this winter tyre rule.

what is the top speed on a 1.2 8v????

Can't comment on the 8v but the 1.2 16v brakes were impressive I found, very stable and powerful from high speed.

How much toe out @ front?

Generally toe-in adds stability at the expense of some turn-in. Toe-out can make the car feel nervous (although I believe there is a little toe-out as specified at the factory) Setting to parallel is always a good safe bet!!

    Car slipps when turning right

In what way was it out (too much toe out or toe in?) and did they happen to tell you waht they set it to (I believe the factory toe settings are with slight toe-out which is unusual for a FWD car). Mine has the same problem, was very noticeable in the recent ice/snow when it tugged/slipped...

what is the top speed on a 1.2 8v????

Ah right, well the Sports do have theoretically enough power to get near the limiter so it probably can happen. I'm not sure if 182 has taller gearing? (I see 3250 @ 70mph which would equate to 155mph @ 7200rpm!).
  10. C

what is the top speed on a 1.2 8v????

I don't know of you know what the gearing is of a 1.2 8v (I'm not sure but I bet it's not THAT low geared; the 1.2 16v is around 20mph/1000rpm and I very much doubt that would hit a limiter in 5th 130+). It doesn't have the power to either hit the limiter or run out of gearing. With so little...

    Noisey Motorway Trips

The 182 is noticeably noiser in terms of tyre noise compared to the 1.2 16v I had. Firmer suspension and lower profile tyres also transmits more noise too. It's also slightly noisier upto and below 70 but quieter above that (when the 1.2 starts getting louder if you get me; the larger 2.0 engine...

Been to test drive a 182 today in crewe LK55PAO

The Renault dealer I bought mine off said it's to cover HPI checks on the car being sold and bought (cheeky really as I was happy to buy the car off them it's their choice to HPI my car. Plus trader use of HPI costs a few quid for an individual car) but they waived it (but it's in the price you...

They all look quite similar too but loads of people insist on posting pictures of them underneath railway arches or after they've cleaned and "detailed" them. Do people buy Clios to wash them as that might not be what they're about either :clown: :D this logic could be applied to 80% of posts...

Sorry to go on but 20kg to my mind is "not much difference" - it's nothing worth mentioning (a variation of 2% of the weight of the car). It's the equivalent to a variation of a few bhp which happens between engines. So yes I'd say they're all the same/similar performance, there's probably...

Thats a bit pendatic - but you proved my point!! I said the 1#2s are more or less the same - 20kg difference!? that's like less than a possible difference between drivers! or less than half a tank of fuel! 80kg+ plus is worth mentioning not 20. I believe gearing is different between the...

I very much doubt one with 12.5k miles from a dealer though! If it's at £6999 that's a good price.

    Noisey Motorway Trips

Nice car ^^^ But sound deadening under the bonnet won't probably make any/much difference, might make a slight difference to driveby but not much. Sounds that are low/deep are difficult to erradicate inside the car compared to higher frequency noise (like tappets etc). Have you checked the...

But the comparison isn't against "other normal traffic", it's a thread about 0-60 times of Clios! I see what your trying to say but the whether there's other cars out there that are as quick or whether the handling is the key reason to own one isn'trelevant. tbh I was quite impressed with a...

2 new tyres required for 197...

Just under 10,000miles for a powerful FWD car isn't bad IMO.

Is that because it didn't have the Cup spoiler pack? (I could be mistaken but the rear spoiler looks smaller than the one on mine)

They're a quick hot hatch - it's all relative so comparison between similar cars are as valid as something that might make it under 4 seconds.

You can't really bunch the 182 and 197 as carrying a weight deficit over the 172! the 197 is a fair bit heavier, the 182 is hardly different to the 172, only difference is the twin exit exhaust but it loses the spare wheel and wheel well which probably makes it the similar.

    172/182 strut top knocking fix

So I take it that's how the struts held on then! hehe. Seems a bad design if the top mount binds on the body with caster change - really it needs a bearing on both top and bottom? Just that my other cars have what I would say "normal" top mount fixings; the top mount is part of the strut...

    ***How much is it worth?***

Re: 182 Prices at the moment selling mine soon HELP NEED ADVICE Yea I'd say the amount for sale is always an unflunence but I agree about looking for a minter (one 182 I looked at - up for sale at the same price as the other I found - was rough and very untidy). Friend of mine had a...

Test drove a 182... not what i was expecting

Does fuel make a big difference in these cars? I test drove 3 182s, two felt a bit lethargic but felt ok when thrashed but the other one felt super responsive to light prods of the throttle and just felt quite a bit quicker. One of the slower ones was low on fuel and the salesman said he'll put...

    172/182 strut top knocking fix

How are the frotn struts held on to the body on the clio? I can only see the top nut holding the top part of the mount on; is this the part that stops if falling out of the inner wing? if so will creating a larger gap here not possibly create a knock when the suspension unloads? Does this...
