Good condition MkI 172, Titanim silver. 66,000 miles. New engine mounts all round. Replacement gearbox 8,000 miles ago. Uprated brake pads and discs. Braided brake pipes. K-Tec stealth exhaust. Two brand new toyo proxies. What would you guestimate?

They don't need a lot of power and all the places I have used them I have powered them off of standard amps. I'll let you look into it, give me a shout. I'm in London.

Svideo is better but if you are feeding from a scart which you slit there will be no improvment over the composite from the scart (RCA plug).

Thanks for the intellectual comment. I too have the knocking. I have all new engine mounts, all four of them. I'm thinking top mounts at the moment. My other idea is a mis-aligned exaust?

Depends want you want from it? If you just want an uprated ride at the standard ride height level both will be an improvement over standard.

Well the noise gets worse with less weight in the car??? So I believe it must be suspension over engine movement...

I have replaced that, it's one of the four engine mounts.

Have done my engine mounts, all 4 and replaced front tires for more grip but I now get an odd knocking on bumps. It makes a "doinking" sound I'm guessing it's my top strut mounts as I have heard these go. Anyone know anything about these?

The later drive shafts from the MkII won't fit the MkI as the part numbers are different due to the different gearboxes on the two models.

If that is the fault, then you need new ones. There are four of them. Try your top mounts on your struts, they may be knackered. It's cheaper and easier to do. I've just done all my engine mounts, well Mike@Rentech did them, and it's still not right. Next thing for me is strut tops. Mine...
