Old people like this are so infuriating, probably doesn't value his car and thinks of it as something to get him 'from A to B' so doesn't understand the cost and inconvenience of bumping others cars.
Hope he gets screwed over by the insurance companies! ha fooking ha! :D
Meg 225 (Jan 06) - 2500 miles
Renault 5 (1995) - 85,000. 1000 miles of which I've done.
User the Megane for pleasure, the Renault 5 for short trips but due to shifts etc, I don't get the opportunity to drive that often. :(
Insuring them definitely helps keep them exclusive and for that reason always will.
Besides we're not gonna see more of the 172/182s as they've stopped making them so we might see a change in the type of driver but not necessarily see more of them.
Sounds to me like they've beefed up the BHP but without backing it up with the performance, probably done for marketing!!!
Sounds to me like the 172/182 is going to be a lot more of a classic in the future than the new 197 coz the 197 sounds a lot more 'average' :( :(
The image of the Saxo has become chavvy purely due to the cheapness of them. They are nippy cars and now cheap to buy and a lot lower insurance than the Clio 172/182s.
In time the RS Clios might become chav mobiles but no more so than Imprezas and other fast cars. As it stands at the moment...
18s on the 225s mate, unless you're in Australia or South Africa and you get 17" versions!??!?! Which is weird lol
Dunno if they charge more/less depending on wheel size.
Tell you what, some of those girls look like they're promoting SCOPE not car clubs!!!
Only the classiest birds bend over a chavved up Cavalier or Escort!! hahahahahaha
Its definitely a Megane dash board, exactly the same as mine. :)
In fact looking more closely that last picture is not from the inside of a Clio at all, its got the Megane gear knob and door cards. Looks like he put that pic in, in error.
I'd say thats actually a pretty smart little motor. I had a Mk1 phase1 for my first car with only 15" rims and ICE, but I loved it.
Got a good looking front end as well. The exhausts are a bit much for me but overall its good. Enjoy it mate.
I did mention that to her, see if a spot of T-cut will brighten them up a bit. Its just a case of waiting for the weather to enable a bit of time for some proper attention to the car.
If not we'll go for replacing them. Any ideas how much that would cost????
I can't believe this thread is still going!! lol
She's still undecided about whether to have them taken off or whether to get them replaced where they look a big dirty. She wants her wheels refurbed in white so with the stripes that would look awesome.
They seem to have brought the 197s build quality bang up to date by comparison to the old shape.
But find a well looked after 182 and it won't disappoint. I did 14,500 in my old 172 and no rattles when I sold it. My missus Clio 182 is an 05 reg with just over 10k on the clock and thats...
Get it refurbished, I had two of the ones on my Megane refurbished and now in gloss black. You'd never know it had ever been damaged.
Guy who did mine explained that most scuffed rims are only damaged on the top surface so once thats stripped off the aluminium is fine underneath. Then they...
Its gutting when your motor gets broken into! :(
If its feasible, get a second, really cheap motor and use it for work. I'm paranoid about parking dings/theft etc with my Megane so I bought a Renault 5 for £650 that I use for leaving in car parks etc.
Carl - It just powder coated in gloss black. You can get it done in matt which I imagine just has less or no lacquer on it.
I spoke to the guy there who explained that the powder coating once applied is harder than the actual allumium underneath so the finish will be tough. PM me if you want...
carl-182 - Black and silver would look wicked mate. At least you can see that the style of the rims looks good in black. So get it done on the Clios 16s!
With regard to scuffing them, I will be a lot more cautious when I'm driving past vans!! Scuffing my wheels is not something I do when...
It seems that the black/inferno combo have been a success all round!! :D
Only a couple of people haven't been keen which is fare enough. The standard wheels aren't that exciting but the offset on the 225s is funny so replacement wheels hasn't really been an option. :(
So black all the way haha
The tail lights aren't to everyones taste but they are partly why I went for black rims as they go together.
The Phase 2 lights are ok but I can't be arsed with re-wiring em.
Well, picked up my 225 which was away having the wheels refurbished in black.
And I have to say WOW! :D It looks even better than I'd hoped. Exactly the look I wanted, the wheels are spotless and really glossy as well.
Let me know what you think -
These were the scuffed ones -...
Well my 225 its currently having its first mod of the year done, getting the wheels powdercoated gloss black.
Next months I'll have some -30mm lowering springs from K-tec then exhaust and re-map later in the year.
The missus wants to lower her 182 Cup and with the gordini stripes is...
