What a f*cking hassle all because of Halfords.
They sell me a set of 15" rims, 'sorry we don't have the fitting kit' but they'll have one in later in the week. Ar$e!!!
Anyway me being impatient I thought I'd get em bolted on without the spiggot ring and put them on later in week. Well...
Thats obviously something in the 'fitting kit' halfords are on about. Will have to wait for that to arrive then.
Weird thing was I got Wolfrace rims for my old 172 and it came with spiggot rings. But the rear ones were needed but the front ones went straigh on and never caused any bother.
In that case I'll get em down to a tyre fitter and see if they can get em on a bit easier. It might just be me being cack handed or indeed Halfords labelling them wrong.
Right, I bought some rims for my Renault 5. Size wise compared to the arches they look like they're gonna fit no problem.
Only thing is, Halfords didn't have the 'fitting kit' for them. From what I gathered a 'fitting kit' is a set of bolts for it. Well thankfully I've got a set of bolts...
You just need to find the right person mate, it took me about 3 months to sell my 172 which at the time was completely mint and the first person fo view it, bought it.
In my mind, if its been modified it depends on the person whose selling it as to whether I thought the car was ragged.
You...
I'm not a fan of that GT. Talk about cash in on the twin exhausts of the RS'!!!
You know there'll be people that buy one hoping it will be mistaken for a 225! lol Bit pointless if you ask me, not the engine, that looks ok but the styling is a bit bollox.
Megane 225 has all new...
For a 1.2 it'll be allowed 18k or 2 years so he's just gone and voided his warranty.
Trouble is that now he hasn't got it serviced and its 10k over the service interval, it could cost him more than your 182 service Quickshift.
I can understand why the police get called 'the pigs' by some. I think its unacceptable to spit at/verbally or physically abuse em etc.
But sometimes they can be annoying. I've been pulled over for a couple of minor things and more often than not you get completely patronised which winds me...
A year of no driving will probably be a lot more agonising than having to drive a 1.2 or similar. At least you can have a decent car and style it nicely in the mean time.
Besides you've got years ahead of being able to buy faster cars, just gotta hold out for em.
The trouble you're gonna have mate is that if you declare a valver/williams engine swap to the insurers you might as well get a 172 coz its unfortunately gonna hit your wallet as hard. :(
If you want my advice, go for a 1.2 or 1.4 at a push, modify it styling wise to the level you want. You...
182 all the way mate, the finance deals they offer aren't all they are cracked up to be. You may pay less per month but thats just delaying paying it probably.
Get a decent, low mileage 182 for around the £10k mark and pay it over 4 years. Won't cost you that much per month and you'll own it...
Not sure if this one has been put up so apologies if this is a repost! :D

P.S - If this is a repost, don't just put repost coz thats just bent.
When it comes to building a 172 replica.............I wouldn't bother mate. I personally think a nicely modified non RS Clio can look just as good.
In the same way that making an Escort look like a Cossie, or an MR2 look like a Ferrari, its just no cricket.
Why not go for a euro looking...
Unless its gonna be a monster version like the V6 was I can't see it happening.
They always produce cars within certain brackets, performance and price wise.
Clio 172/182 - £13k
Megane 225 - £19.5k
Clio V6 255 - £26k
Each of them fits that criteria so unless its gonna be way quicker...
I've seen some cars a while back that were coloured carbon but not sure if that was a thin layer of paint over the carbon.
You could always get a carbon bonnet and then get it sprayed.
I'd imagine that the only thing with a 172 for that money would mean that its a Mk1 172 and probably has a higher mileage than the more expensive ones.
From what I've read though, as long as they are serviced properly you shouldn't have anything to worry about. :D
I was 21 when I got my 172 and it was the best thing I could have done. Insurance was reasonable and even though I was doing about 150-200 miles a wheel it only ever cost me £20-£25 a week in petrol.
Compared to my Megane 225s 25mpg or 32mpg-ish on a motorway run, the Clios are pretty...
From what I can gather, the release of the 197 has actually steadied the prices of the 182s, rather than causing them to plummet like the 172 did when the 182 came out.
My missus bought an 05 reg 182 Cup for £9500 with 6500 miles on it last summer. I would expect that she could sell it for...
Has anyone removed theirs and replaced it with an aftermarket one?
If so, how did you get the OE one off?? Is it glued on, screwed on etc??
Any help would be great as the one in my gf's 182 Cup is a bit boring and she's got her eyes on a couple of different gear knobs.
cheers
Yeah there is a black guy with exactly the same looking Clio as my gf owns and he's only a bit further up the A217 than she is.
She lives not far from the big Shell station, could have been her you've spotted.
Racing blue, 05 reg with stripes.
Sorry to hear about the bad luck with your dealership.
Sounds like how my local place used to run!! Somehow they turned it around whereby they now text updates and call regularly.
Hope you get some joy from the head office though.
Well I think this project sounds quite interesting and being a white Clio makes it sound even more different. (I haven't seen many in white anyway).
Hows it going though and how much work has been done so far?
