Insurance companies are complete minges.
I had some bloke scrape my Megane early last year. It came of his insurance as I was stationary, he drove on the pavement and then drove off.
Came to renew this year and I got told that my premium has gone up by £200. When asked why, they mentioned...
I actually use a car cover on my Megane 225, reckon its a good idea if you don't get to drive your car that often. When I'm doing shifts that don't allow me to drive the car all week, I stick a cover on it.
If its in a garage I'd stilll put a cover on it, no point cleaning it, putting in the...
That would explain the colour and the little plastic caps instead of washer jets then! :D
In fact, upon looking closer are they the 15" renault alloys rather than the 16" 172 rims?
I've got clear floor protectors which are massive and cover the whole floor of my 225. Got the standard black mats underneath. I also have a cheapo seat cover on the drivers seat, as does my missus in her 182 haha
No harm in being anally retentive about keeping the car nice!! lol
Cheers for the tips guys. Its not a GTT its just 1.4 Campus.
Its strange, but now its working I've noticed a noise that had stopped happening when I turned it off and it stopped working.
Normally when I turn off the ignition I get a click/whirr a split second after the ignition is turned...
I know its not a Clio but there's plenty of mechanical types on here who mights know!! :D
Had a bit of a weird issue with the 5..........
Drove to pick the missus up from work in it, about 30 minutes drive.
Started fine, drover fine, pulled up outside her office turned it off then...
I know for a fact that the average stupid driver won't have a clue about any RenaultSport models.
The 172 was slightly more subtle where the 182 was made to look that extra bit sportier, which some people think would be non factory.
I was at a petrol station in the missus 182 and these...
Thats the thing is the brakes on my 225 are awesome and the ones in my 172 never missed a beat, same as the missus 182 Cup.
Just strange how there were a few models recalled and I know someone who it happened too. This ist he best place to gauge it I guess though. :)
Me and a couple of the guys in work have been checking out this site -
http://www.vosa.gov.uk/vosa/apps/recalls/default.asp
Gives you all the info on car recalls from 1992 onwards. Surprisingly there are a lot of recalls from Renault, some of which are for 'failing brakes'.
Chap I...
If you had a silver 172 I'd say go for it but its a shame on a flame red one as thats such a nice colour.
But, in white with black turinis and the grilles remaining black it would look pretty nice. Black side badges and even black lights on the back would break it up enough so stop it...
Good point Rich, although the phase 1 225 has now stopped.
From what I recall on Meganesport.net there were about 1500 phase 1 225s sold with inferno and black being the two most popular colours.
We'll have to see what they come up with once its ceased being made. :D
Can't seem to find anything to do with the sales figures of the Megane 225!!! :(
The missus will be interested to know that there's only 371 racin blue 182 Cups though! lol
Never too old to enjoy an RS Clio, you're only too old if you're past the point of appreciating what kind of car it is.
The RS Meganes are my preference but the Clio offers a very involving, fast drive so either one is a good choice, just depends which suits you most.
I'd say mid 90s Impreza's are the little boy racers favourites like the R5GTT and RS Turbos were 10+ years ago.
For the average chav/boy racer they want something loud and lairy so the Clio 172s and 182s are probably a bit subtle for them. Besides they'd probably say 'Its only a Clio'...
Its bloody impressive for such a rapid motor. :D :D
We're taking my missus car on a 200 mile round trip tomorrow, shall see what that says when we're back.
I used to do 150 miles a week in my 172 and it was really good on economy, that was going from a 1.2 Clio as well. Used to cost me £20 at the most per week and that was with a bit of weekend driving.
I'd say its good coz its light and the power doesn't come in until higher up the revs so if...
The Clios are cheap to buy but they are cheaply made. Having said that I did 15k in my Clio by the time I sold it and it was fine, no rattles or anything.
The missus 182 is on an 05 plate with 9500 miles and is going strong as well.
Seems to be luck of the drawer with Renault build quality.
There is something Anti-Renault about Top Gear. They do it all the time when they compare to other cars!!
They did it with the Megane 225 Cup against the VXR and GTi. Said how the Golf is best but the VXR is savage, then in the final sentence how the Meg was quickest round the track and that...
If you pay and play around enough you'll fit any engine in anything really.
But the cost of doing it would outweigh the benefits. You might as well put a Megane turbo engine in, remap it to 265bhp and it'd be lighter than the V6 lump.
I'd be more interested to see a twin 182 engined...
