Had a chap in a black 172 follow me onto the Caterham bypass. Followed me for a bit and then I pulled over and he went passed.
Didn't really have a blast as i'm still funning the Megane 225 and lets face it there's not gonna be much in it anyway but stayed in convow til the M25 junction...
Its a shame that a motor like that gets wasted on those kind of idiots.
I got my 172 when I was 21 and drove it with maximum respect but i see some people in fast cars driving like t*ssers! haha
It meant they were intending on pulling off from the right hand lane, cutting accross my mate to take the junction to his left!! :-)
The sad thing was, anyone with half a brain wouldn't bother trying to show off against a 1.1 white Ax haha, my mate had to chuckle!
Inferno is a wicked colour mate, really makes your car stand out.
Shame about your arctic one ending up like that, main thing is that you're ok but I think you have the better colour now!! (imo)
My mate was driving a 1.1 AX (courtesy car) and is in the left lane turning LEFT.
Two chavs pull up in a Blue 182 with the Gordini stripes, and one leans over and goes 'I bet I can beat you left?'. My mat just p!ssed himself laughin and the 182 driver just floors it and cuts him right up...
Good choice on colour mate, love the inferno 182s. I would say that coz my Megane is inferno lol!
The Alfa looks sweet as well, whats the power from one of them?? What kinda prices you looking at as well?
It looks ok, I personally have found that its grown on me but I'm more of a fan of the RenaulstSports rather than the normal Renaults.
Lets see what the RS edition is like.
Seems overpriced to me mate.
I sold my 53 reg (Nov 2003) full fat Clio 172 with 14,600 miles on it for £7600 so should look for one around that price mate.
I looked at the Cup and full version when i was looking to get a 172. The Cup was cheaper due to the lack of xenons, leather etc etc.
The Cup is more of a drivers car but the full version had more options. I went for a normal 172 coz liked the toys.
I've have literally just bought and inferno Megane 225 and the colour is superb! Pictures really don't do it justice.
At night it looks more of a solid orange colour, give it some sunlight and it really comes out nice. Can also look really red at times as well.
Shocking stuff!!
Glad everything is getting sorted but its frightening that theives like that have the guts to do that. I never have my car keys out of sight just in case of that.
I found my fuel consumption in my 172 between about 28-32mpg about town, would creep up tp 35-37 on a longer journey. Never used to hammer it constantly as i'm sure you could get the mpg way down in the 20s.
Makes sense that your mpg drops when standing still since you're not doing any miles...
To be honest there isn't probably gonna be a conclusion to this!!!
I have never raced my Clio against another car round a winding road as I don't see that as safe, I probably won't do it in my Megane either. The blasts I have had have always been in a straight line either from traffice...
I would have thought that realistically the 225 and 182 are gonna be really close 0-60 under normal driving conditions.
From the impression I get from a rolling start the Megane has the advantage. But think of it this way, both cars have their own advantages to owning them so you just gotta be...
Just doesn't look particularly sporty, as said before it just looks like another modern hatch. Lets hope the performance speaks more than its looks!!
Anyone else think that the rear side profile looks kinda like a Ford Ka?????
If you want a newer RenaultSport buy a Megane 225 lol
The Megane overall is a slightly quicker car but being bigger and more solid, to drive I would have thought it wouldn't feel as intense as a 172/182!!
Just get the Megane chipped and the boost increased slightly and its pushing 260bhp though!! lol
Thats just all down to what driving position you like to sit in, your build etc.
I actually found my 172 uncormfortable toward the end of owning it but the Megane more spacious and better for me!!
Oh yeah and the latest 225s have a slightly different engine which was governed by emissions laws!!!
Thats apparently why there have been some delays in the production of them.
There is a Megane 225 Cup which they had on Top Gear which is the the equivalent of the 182 Cup. Only difference in looks from the Cup to the full fat 225 is that it comes in Capsicum Red (like the Clio Trophy) and it has graphite wheels on it.
The Megane Trophy comes in silver but with the...
Knock a Cup for not having ABS anyway.
I had a normal 172 and not once had the ABS kick in anyway!!! Its down to how you drive and how cautious you are.
People just don't take driving conditions into account though, watched this guy in the summer after it rained go round this round about...
From what i've read the Megane 225 and Clio 172/182 are pretty damn close on the road to 60 as the Clio has the weight advantage but the Megane has the power and torque. On paper the 172 does 0-60 in 7.1 and the 225 does it in 6.5 but thats in perfect condition. Above that speed the Megane will...
