Early 90s, my Grandad gets himself a top spec Vauxhaul Carlton. Absolutely mint and watches from his lounge as one of the trees in the street just falls straight onto it!!!!!
£2000 worth of damage later and he's claiming from the council. They try to blame an 'act of god' but he kept a lump of...
You're probably right there meggerman, prices will undoubtedly come down.
But as it stands at the moment you could get a new or second hand Megane 225 for less and that offers minimal performance gains but a bigger car and IMO better looks lol
Having said that I am biased. ;)
I used to find the CC a god send in my 172 when you get stuck in traffic but it does drink your petrol. Hardly affected the performance on it though, have yet to test the CC on my 225.
My mums 1.6 Focus really suffers with the AC on though, not a rapid car anyway but really struggles when...
Renault just seem to have put the Clio 197 in a category of its own. Its somewhere between the Clio 172/182 and the Megane 225 in as far as size/price etc.
The appeal of the 182s was that they offer a lot of features and performance. The 197 has now been stuck into a bracket that is too...
There are definitely a lot of options that should come as standard on there!!
Very expensive if you ask me, I worked out that getting it to the same spec as the Megane 225 I bought at the beginning of this year it would cost £17,370!! I got my Megane (from a broker) for £16,400!!!!! :o...
Went down there on Saturday to test drive Clio 182 as my missus is looking at buying one, only went there to look as its local!!!
Would NOT buy one from this garage in a millions years. They had a few RS Clios and none of them were ready to be sold, dented, wheels kerbed.
My girlfriends...
I'm looking forward to seeing this motor give it some up the 1/4 mile!!
Something for the RenaultSport fans to be proud of really!! Nice one mate.
Bet its a handful, but worth the time, money and effort!!! :)
They are stunning looking cars and so bloody fast!!
I saw a Tuscan a while back when I had my 172, thing was the guy came of a roundabout, booted it and fishtailed at me!!! Had to slow down and steer, I did sh!t though haha. I just thought, 'Its fast but please learn to control it!' lol
I never found my 172 that expensive to be honest, although it all depends on the mileage and type of driving you do. I've found the Megane is a thirstier car but I only spen £10 a week as I only do 40-50 miles a week.
If you're thinking of getting a cheaper car to run maybe something like a...
I suppose you buy teh car for different reasons. Some people buy it coz its a fast, relatively cheap sporty car. Others drive it coz they want a real 'drivers' car and would want the cup pack.
I bought a Megane 225 without the cup option and I doubt I'd notice a massive difference day to day!!
I pulled into a turning just as a guy in an inferno Clio was pulling out. Gave you a quick flash and got a wave back!!!
Not often you get an inferno Megane 225 and inferno Clio in the same place. First inferno Clio i've seen in the flesh!
Anyone on here?
I can imagine the Focus ST could easily be pushing out 285bhp!!
If you bear in mind that a Megane 225 will be pushing out 265bhp with a chip and boost increase. Pop a new intercooler and exhaust on and you're approaching that figure.
Just my thoughts though!
One amusing thing though, saw an ST at Santa Pod the other week and the buy had an ASBO badge on the back. At least he's honest hahaha.
I'll stick with my Megane 225, lol, even though the Focus does look pretty good.
Cups are fast but there are plenty of faster cars around. The Clios are...
It clearly needs that spoiler to keep the downforce from the 1000bhp engine in the front!!
The car is so fast it actually started off red but the sheer speed it peeled the paint off!! ;)
I'd be gutted if my old car had got smashed to pieces, even if I had sold it. If you look after a car and its mint, its a real shame if someone careless just destroys it.
My mate has a 2.1ltr Mk1 Escort, was a 1973 model and it was damn fast. Sold it to some bloke who smashed it up the same...
Well there ya go then. I got my Megane 225 full fat new for £16.4k and that was a massive amount cheaper than Renault charged!!!
Anyway......back to the subject of A turbo'd 182!! lol
Putting a turbo on an RS Clio is such an expensive job that it makes it seem a little pointless.
182 is roughly £8k the turbo Convesion is about £7k so you're talking £15 for it. You could buy an early Megane 225 for £13k, spend a grand on a remap, exhaust, induction kit and have a Megane...
No other manufacturer put their neck out like Renault did when they built the Clio V6!!!!
I'd have gone for a V6 but the Megane 225 was more practical!! lol If I ever have the spare cash I'd spank it on a V6 Clio. :D
Looks sweet mate, there's always other cars you can buy for X amount of money but you just buy what you wanna buy!! I can understand not appreciating comparisons to the other RS models.
By the way the motor looks sweet, V6's always turn plenty heads and with a few touches makes it different...
I'd say its luck of the draw to be honest!! If you've had the car from new, maintained it and looked after it, you can probably assume its gonna be ok. If you're second owner you may be more cautious.
Mate of mine had a Y reg Impreza, paid for and extended warranty and within a few months...
Is that purely coz they know that a standard Clio RS would kick the arse of any standard Corsa/Punto???
I have just found that the Jap guys are really snobby!! Wether they are driving a £2000 mid 90s motor or not. At least you can sit back and laugh at it.
They are friendly provided you only drive a Jap car and slate everything else!!
As long as you conform then they are happy haha.
Don't even get me started on the MR2 OC, every other club I've been on with my Clio and now Megane have been sound!! Except them haha
I think the point of someone showing off their just cleaned cars is just a sense of satisfaction thats all. Not interesting to everyone but you get to show off your hard work!! lol
Try going onto another car specific forum and posting pics up!! You get some interesting reactions. I double...
I had a green induction kit on mine and to be honest I noticed how tight the car felt with the standard airbox on.
If it feels no difference go for the K&N again, the sound is very statisfying haha
If you're happy with the swap mate then why not, if you prefer the idea of a newer car with lower miles.
I would have thought it would have made sense to make more of a change from a 182 to a V6 or Megane 225 but if you wanted to stick with your 182 then why not! :-)
I've got an inferno Megane 225 and in certain lights it doesn't look like a metallic colour.
When it was delivered the guy driving the transporter wrote it down as a 'teracotta' (if thats how you spell it) colour!!
Inferno looks like all sorts of colour dependent on the light conditions.
