that is wicked mate!! I love hearing a story like that, surely if the salesman was doing his job he's have checked it over properly.
I bet you felt proper smug after that!! lol
Here's a couple of pics of mine with Wolfrace Octanes 17" wheels. Didn't affect performance enough to make me take em off.
I've sold the 172 now though -
It does sound that way but if you bear in mind renault cover the warranty for 3 years of X amount of miles! I'd imagine that mileage to be over 20k as that doesn't seem many miles for that to go wrong.
Probably bad luck and sods law as well mate!! Hopefully nothing else will go wrong. :)
Thats a typical 'barryboy' type response on there!!
Granted, there are some seriously gash motors highlighted on there but there is a serious lack of open mindedness on that site.
Site seems to be run by old men with too much time on there hands and attitude problems.
Not from what I can gather, I suppose it would depend on the dealership considering the consistency of their service haha.
You shouldn't have much of an issue with major mechanical issues if you fit an induction kit/exhaust etc. They just won't cover those parts.
From what I've gathered if the mod you've made can be proven to be the cause of a fault they won't cover it!!
For example I put a Green induction kit on my 172 and they made a note of it but nothing else was said. Still did warranty work on it after that.
Obviously if you replace the...
Bearing in mind I sold my 172 53 reg last November for £7600 and that was totally mint with 14,500 miles on the clock! Didn't get any interest in it at anything over that price.
Just thought I'd mention it lol!!
An 04 reg 172 must have been a really late one though considering the 182s...
I've seen worse but that just seems totally unecessary.
Its red with black wheels and black grilles etc so who thought silver would be a good idea???? Shame really coz they do look the nuts in standard form.
I very nearly bought a second hand 172 that had been at the dealers a while.
I saw the car after one of the staff had taken it away for the weekend and it was a f-ing state. The seat was broken, all 4 wheels kerbed, interior panels missing!! It had 5000 miles more than they had it noted down...
I had something similar with my 172 and with my previous car which was a 1.2! I had heard it was something to do with the break pads.
Having said that I also found that sometimes those lights came on after I'd let the handbrake down and I wasn't sure if the cable has stretched.
That could...
Seems a lot of money spent for what it looks like BUT I actually think it looks pretty cool.
He's made it look aggressive but also stuck with a few factory ideas as well. One of the better modding attempts at the Clio!
He's only gonna sell it to someone who has no idea about what they should actually pay for one!
Its stupid really coz people seem to make up their own depreciation and work it out on how much it cost them. Its only worth what the current market price says its worth! Sad but true lol
Think he means the price is miles to high, not the actual mileage!! lol If that makes sense haha.
It does seem a bit high on the price though. Mileage seems low but it depends when it was registered. I've got a 55 plate Megane that hit the road on Jan 10th 2006 so it might not be a full 6...
I recall my mums X reg Clio 1.4 Alize and actually remember that being pretty nippy, quite responsive from what I recall!
Must be satisfying beating your mate if he's been giving it all the large about his new car! lol
Part the reason why I love the euro style motors is that removing rather than adding things is a big part of it!
Removing door handles and bump strips and smoothing a car always looks good in my eyes.
Looks absolutely mint, identical to the one I sold back in November.
51 plate with only 17k on the clock is really good, I thought my 53 plate with 14k on the clock was good but your equates to only under 5k a year!!!
Worth the price you paid when you consider that even though its an...
I like modded cars and there are some very tastefully modded Clios on here.
I personally like to make a few changes to my cars just so they you're less likely to pull up next to an identical one!!
I had two 1.2 Clios and modified them before I hit 21 and went for a 172.
As long as a...
I'd dig my heels in on this one mate. If you know it left you in good condition and that it was properly packaged I'd say the buyer has damaged it.
The whole sold as seen bit is worth rememebering though. Thats what I made the buyers of my last two Clios sign when I sold it too them.
Nice one mate, you're gonna love that coming from a 1.2!
I had a 1.2 8v X plate Clio and went to a 172 full fat and it was a big step but totally wicked. As long as you take your time in learning to use the power wisely you'll have a wicked time with it!!
I don't reckon their would be that much in it. The Clio would out handle the Megane but the Megane would have an advantage on the straights due to the torque and that the power comes in lower than the Clio.
I found that my 172 needed to be driven quite hard to make it perform at its best...
I used to get a fair few comments about my 172 at my last job. One guy just kept referring to it as a chav car and really couldn't handle the fact that it would out perform his 1.8T Audi A3.
Also used to get the comment from my old boss 'Its only a Clio' and i'd just be sat there thinking 'a...
It does seem that people get understandably put of when they get problems with their car, tends to put you off that brand.
I was lucky that my 172 only ever had 2 warranty issues that actually needed to go back to a dealership, that was from new over 2 years.
I wouldn't bet on a Ford...
I went from a 172 to a full fat 225 without cup packs and I'm still extremely impressed with its handling. You can't throw it round like the Clio but the levels of grip are really good.
I'm still running my 225 in so haven't been pushing it but its nice that the power comes in at 3rpm unlike...
I'll stick a post on there see if its him!!
I'd be happy to bring the Megane a couple of the meets. I'm sure i'd see lots then haha. But thats the idea isn't it ;-) lol
Was a little bit later than that from what i recall. I didn't see a ClioSport sticker on it.
It was just pretty cool coz you don't see RenaultSports that much then to have a 172 and 225 lined up looked pretty cool.
