I have had this once but never again. My pump makes a noise when steering (like a mini does) and my belts have been done very recently and it's happened since then. Could be the tension of the belts as they are new?
And to update, go out this morning to the car, jump in, put key in ignition and away she goes. No hesitation, nothing. Only thing I noticed last night was that she was holding back a little bit only for the first 5 minutes of the journey. Connected or just because it was very cold?
I know what you mean but I'm thinking standard is better. There is something about a 172, spaced on standard wheels that looks really good.
Maybe see if anyone wants to px their alloys in the near future.
Thanks for your replies.
I read about turning ignition on for 30 seconds, then off for 30, then back on then off, so thought I'll go and see if there's any earth cables I can check and give that a go.
I got in the car, tried to start it and nothing. Then I tried the turning the ignition on and...
It has also sat for an hour and still nothing. The immobiliser light flashes normally but then goes solid when trying to start.
It's worth adding that everything else is fine, windows, locking, lights, radio.
Hi
i drove my car, turned it off, started fine and moved it a short distance, Turned the car off, go to start it again and won't start. It is cranking 4-5 times and then stopping. No amount of attempts will get it started.
The dash lights up as so when it is cranking but not firing.
Please...
My opinion is always original, so I'd stick a set of 172/182 16" alloy wheels or even turini's.
Don't put bigger than 16" or the drive will be terrible. Been there, done that.
But saying that it's down to personal preference really.
I'm thinking of taking the Renault sport badges off the back, eventually to change the Clio badge for the new rs style badge. Would it look stupid with just Clio on? I really hate the cheap looking Renault sport badge but I'm not in a place to spend £30+ on a new rs badge when I've got proper...
Well today I spent an age fitting a new washer pump from eBay (£5.80)
What a ball ache of a job but thank you to the guides on here as I was able to realise the wiper mechanism wasn't bolting in because I hadn't put the locating tab in the hole!!
Still a few jobs to do but they will be done in...
Hi all. How much are trophy turini's worth now? Two good tyres, two not so good. Slight curb marks to one wheel but nothing major. All good in every other aspect.
Thanks
I'm going to say this (and I desperately need to do the same) but clean plates would make a massive difference.
As I say not a dig, just a note. (And a kick up my own arse to do the same, although my rear one doesn't show the reg clearly if I take a picture with a flash so... ;) )
Oh right, unless it was built and then sat for a bit, I'm sure late 2003 build onwards had cruise/esp. Might be wrong though, wouldn't be the first time! ;)
Coming on nicely. Might have missed it but we're the discs shot or you just wanted new ones on there? Looked ok in the photos on my phone.
Brave man working in the cold, I'd of stayed inside!!
Ahh my bad. Get that removed, Fred stated in his report that it wouldn't take much to remove it (get a specialist to do it)
If your South Wales im sure there's a specialist in Bristol or somewhere like that that you can take it to. Don't take it Renault they probably won't even know what model...
If it were me, I'd kick myself and then just cherish it and enjoy it and make a good car of it. We've all bought cars that have shown faults or more faults than initially thought.
Has the clutch thing been removed now?
I'll answer before you get told to search, although there is a good guide in the guides section about differences if you search
A late 2003-04 172 will have cruise control yes, earlier than that won't. K-tec do a 182 style exhaust or a custom place would fabricate you one and a 182 rear...
